Depending on the manager you use;

DEV_HDD0\game\LAUN12345\GAMEZ
DEV_HDD0\game\OMANxxxx\GAMEZ

External is just GAMEZ on the root.

Hmm, I thought it was GAME, no S. Oops. If GAMES already exists, then that's the one =)

ok cool, and sorry to be so retarded, but if i'm using open manager, I assume I put it into:

DEV_HDD0\game\OMANxxxx\GAMEZ

So, for example, Heavy Rain would be:

DEV_HDD0\game\OMANxxxx\GAMEZ\BCES00797

??

I've already started uploading to:

DEV_HDD0\games\BCES00797

I assume once it's done I can move it around!

Yes, that's exactly where it goes.

You'll have to move it around, since the BCES00797 folder needs to be in OMANxxx\GAMEZ

My question is, how do I get the game onto the external if it contains files over 4gb? Is my only option to FTP into the PS3?

No, there's another option. You can use OpenSplit to split the 4gb+ files on PC. Then copy the game to the external FAT32 HDD, connect it to the PS3 and use OM to copy the game to the internal PS3 HDD. OM joins the parts automatically. Works fine! Smile

This. Honestly mate, it sounds complex but only because we're covering all the bases. The basic gist of it?

Stick usb modchip in PS3.
Press power then press eject.
Install backup manager.
Play backed up games.

Simple Very Happy

http://psx-scene.com/forums/f6/kakaroto-releases-his-modified-psgroove-fork-68653/

For those who were waiting on PSGroove update, here's the latest modification. Full support for all the latest homebrew enhancements including retail PKG installation and game updates, as well as being compatible with firmwares prior to 3.41; 3.01, 3.10 and 3.15 -- so those of you who still wanted to keep Linux/OtherOS whilst having the latest jailbreak can do so =)

Reading the comments, that Kakaroto release isn't much good and even reduces compatability. Sticking to that custom hex recommended by Sabin a few days ago.

Just ripped Rock Band 2 to my external HDD, black screen on bootup. Same as Beatles and Green Day Rock Band. Pain in the ass, haven't got enough internal space to keep storing the RB games Sad

According to the latest news on psx-scene the ps3 contacts the sony server on boot up and uploads a playlist etc. That means they can see us running the backup manager and all the games we play i guess. I hope the banhammer doesn't hit us Razz

Is it possible that Sony can cripple the machine if we connect to PSN? Thinking in line of the Xbox 360 no HDD install debacle. I don´t care shit for multiplayer, but downloading some demos would be nice.

So far there isn't the implementation in the software for this, so there's nothing they could do to people on 3.41. They could, however, put in some kind of kill software in the latest firmwares.

+1

Likewise. I'm not disconnecting my PS3 from the net until Sony forcibly bans me.

they already implemented that kill switch...or did you forget about "PS3 CALENDAR BUG" that disabled trophies data , making games with trophies support not run at all on your crippled machine

simple, Sony sends false date data information to your ps3 3.41, disables trophies support....poof your fucked

The calender bug is a bug, not a feature, it was a glitch due to a leap year. It has nothing to do with deliberately locking out machines Rolling Eyes

Uhhh, what glitch might that be? I don't recall there ever being a 360 glitch that disabled HDD installs or corrupted profiles on other machines except the one it was created on. Please, do enlighten us Very Happy
