I dunno guy's, my computer handles this game pretty well all maxxed out (except shadows are on high not ultra). I'm getting about 30-40 fps on avg, no stuttering or anything. But I DO notice the frame skipping people have been reporting, but my game is totally playable otherwise.
Same here but with all on highest. I can't explain why it actually works fine with so many other people having problems, but I don't complain. There is definitely a frame skipping issue with far away NPCs and monsters...you can clearly see that when they are far the animations skip a lot of frames. Same for sun/moon movement, it just skips frames and instead of fluid motion over the skyline it sort of skips. Otherwise the graphics are fine.
The underlying game mechanics are quite broken to be frank. I've reached 9th or 10th level and have yet to invest a single point into skills yet. The combat is so easy you don't even need the skills to play comfortably. With ranged weapons just keep going backwards while shooting. How could they not see the attack animation is too long and the player can simply step backwards in that time to avoid it? Same with melee actually, you can see the attack coming miles off, just sidestep or roll and that's it. Granted I'm playing on hard and not gothic difficulty but still...
The dialogs are horrible, but unless you have other things to play, it's bearable
I have a strong feeling the moment some other game will be released, I won't be coming back.
is it only me or do I see a pattern here
G1 runs like shit and it was the only game on the market at that time that you had to have 1 gig ram to make it run
G2 they had to release a PAID PATCH masked as a Addon "Night of the Raven" to make this game stable
G3 ahahahahaha ahh but that was all Joowood fault , released a beta as a final
G4 ehmm dunno if I should laugh , New Engine , New Company Developing it and .. yet still its repeating past mistakes
havent got any problems either, perhaps it is not optimized for nvidea cards.
Fun game though, not a very deep rpg, but fun enough to spend a couple hours.

Risen Seems like it really was Jowood's fault cause the game was polished and runs almost flawlessly. Even on older rigs.

same here runs well on my
x6 1055T , 4GB ddr3 , GTX460 1GB
i have all the games settings maxed out completly and im getting anywhere from 20-40FPS but even when its dropping down to 20FPS it still feels pretty smooth and im not getting any stuttering at all
the majority of the time im hovering around 30FPS. i turned the shadows down to high and stopped them beeing on geometry last night and got a 10fps boost without noticing the difference though.
still i'd like the performance patch so far im at the baron on island 2 but ive heard once you get into the valley the performance gets alot better because theres not as much stuff to render
How nice of reloaded to modify a DEMO exe and call it a crack, even with them modified pak file... keep waiitng for that patch crack... not gonna happen. they didnt crack the game. Dont ask! im saying it...
so, except the fact you REALLY need powerful quadcore CPU to run nornally this game, we can clearly see from people having played it that this game is not opitmized and buggy. Just an hypothesis, but what if this version of Gothic 4 was just a beta ?!
But comparing this to Gothic 3 isn't very good, Gothic 3 for all its faults and positives was a very open world game, this one is not. They're pretty different in that regard. But do NOT buy it, download first. Wouldn't recommend anyone to buy this.
Hmm pirated PC games >> PC game sales, this might be part of the reason we get so many rushed and unpolished products with a an in game depth that only interests youngsters for a prolonged time. If you like this game a little you should buy it IMO (if you can afford it of course) but 50 € is definitely too much. Perhaps wait half a year.

i have my doubts that reload did that crack , reload only release full game , not only crack.
Say what you want but it's hardly streamlined, at most you can say it's linear.
Combat is completely mind numbingly easy, there are no character stats to allocate, there are barely any real skills, basically no depth at all to character development aside from a shallow talent tree. You can't really do anything wrong, you can't attack any character you want like the previous Gothic games, you can't jump over obstacles (well, you can if you glitch but you're not meant to) which means you can't really go wrong anywhere. There are barely any choices or alignments which affect the game. Lockpicking has been made easier since you now have infinite lock picks.
It is DEFINITELY streamlined compared to the other Gothic games (I'm comparing it to Gothic because it's got Gothic in its name, blame the developers, not saying it's right to compare them but not my fault).
I can probably add more if I think about it but honestly, I don't want to think about this game much more.
Holy christ, is it THAT bad? I was sure there weren't multiple ways to solve quests or meaningful choices to make, but this is way worse than I expected. Wow, another lesson for the book "how to completely ruin a good series" - the Oblivion syndrome strikes again.

Yeah, the game is actually kinda like Fable. That's what it reminds me of the most, to be honest. Except... Fable was better. It really was. There were more things to do, combat required more from the player and character advancement had more options - honestly, this is THE one thing that I hate in this game the most, even when I'm not seeing it as a Gothic, but just another RPG. It's just... so absurdly shallow. I lose all incentive to play and build my character when I see that talent tree. Even an action RPG, hell, especially an action RPG should at least make this ONE thing RIGHT! I can't believe that a 2010 AAA game can have a magic system consisting of 3 spells!

My god these developers are retarded. I bet there are max 4 or 5 male models in the game and the same goes for female. The angry stance the hero and all the npcs takes when they get mad in dialogue looks retarded aswell and nearly all the orcs also have the same model. I talked to this woman in the swamp and she had a different voice actor for one sentence when you speak to her after getting accepted into Blackwater.

When playing this and seeing and hearing about familiar names i die a bit inside. I would think Gothic 3 is much better even though it has its problems.
