The “Back to the Future” films have given us glimpses of times and places that could have been, from a comical 2015 populated with flying cars and hovering skateboards to an alternate 1955 where Michael J. Fox invented rock ‘n’ roll. But how might history have turned out if the first “Back to the Future” movie had starred Eric Stoltz, as its filmmakers originally planned? In this clip from the “Back to the Future” 25th Anniversary DVD collection, the director Robert Zemeckis, his co-screenwriter, Bob Gale, and executive producer Steven Spielberg discuss how they made the heavy if cinematically momentous decision to replace Mr. Stoltz with Mr. Fox, and show early footage that was shot with Mr. Stoltz in the role of Marty McFly.
There is a footage with Eric Stoltz as Marty by the link.
Wow Had no idea that someone other than Michael J. Fox were initially considered
yeah the bluray set is only like 1 or 2 weeks away so hopefully there'll be more in there.
nope, that's it ...

Earlier this week Universal released a trio of short never-before-seen clips of Eric Stoltz as Marty. Unfortunately those clips represent all the Stoltz footage on this release so you won't get to hear him speak any dialogue.
well i've know about this for a long time , apprently the shot about 80% of the movie or more with Stoltz , i'm really curious about that cut that Spielberg was talking about , remastered with the material from the final film it would be rather interesting.
it was probably weird for most actors to shoot most of the stuff again a few months later (Stoltz filmed his part in late 84 and Fox did in in early 85) , oh from the footage and shots it seems that lightning was darker than in the final cut .

Very rarely is a movie part accepted by the actor who gets the first offer. Some of the most famous roles have been first offered to actors other than those who ended up accepting and playing them in the final movie.
I guess a newly remastered Blu-ray is coming or something.
