It's called tv they can't say "the shittiest game of all time" or "the game that would make any boy puke" they get exclusives they have to suck up a little that's the name of the game.

well, im only gonna say something about hl2
when they need 4 year or even more to develop a new game, and only thing you have to do is drive a waterbike, it is sad, they could ve done better.
Now hl2 was still good, only a bit boring.
but my biggest disappointment is CS:source. How much time was put into it? years and years, and what u get? old cs with new graphs :s, and a smaller amount of maps. Explain me that?

Well, looks like my topic was kind of a success.
Maybe HL2 is not so terrible, only an average fps with great visuals, but considering the hype, it was more than disappointing to me.
And I want to reply to Sir "I think your mad about hype is because you have been a sucker to it many many times" psychoace: just because you're a moderator, you have no right to call sucker anyone. Secondly, as you said, I just expressed my opinion clearly, but I didn't call anyone "sucker" pro bono.
You can share my views or not, dear moderator, without insulting me. You know, that's the way of the modern world, we don't use clubs anymore. Oh, and...I almost forgot: you really don't need to remind me that:
"oh and if you start a flame war it will be a closed one before anything else"
I know it already. Eheh. Tnx anyway dude, I know you did it to show that moderating is your duty and you take it seriously.
No sarcasm intended.

his "view" is flawed all the way. COD SP IS NOT more fun that half life 2. CS:S is not a clone that's why i dont like it, they ruined the game with huge hitboxes 3. on BIA enemies dont spawn from anywhere i think you're thinkinf of cod once again. there's only a few missions on bia when enemies keep on reappearing until you reach your goal. and you talk about hype... the sims 2... wow they updated the graphics a bit and added a few FMV's omg this game rules  and so what if pop 2 only added a bit to pop1? it was still a great game and didn't claim to be improved by leaps and bounds. also if you cant see the graphical update between the two you need new glasses.

I really hope you are including all the preliminars and stuff cause 9 hours doing it non-stop WOW, my penis would be all red and probably skinned !
Nonetheless and back on topic, its all its all about taste and what you like its a matter of opinion and whos gonna change the opinion of each person, seriously it wont be and internet thread
Play it, you like then good for you you just had some fun with a game you liked, you didnt well, then just unninstall it or whatever!
Thats why there are so many games and game genres because there are many people with different tastes !

Well I have to start by saying its all opinions. However I dont think HL2 was hyped because of the hackers. Same thing woulda happened if someone got their hands on a beta of SC: CT months before it came out. You have to go along with the fact HL and CS was already popular. Shitloads of people were playing that even years after it came out. It was a game looked forward to play online. I thought the story in HL2 sucked. But the gameplay and rag doll physics made up for it.
But as Fisk pointed out, entertainment is fun. I do however like realism better. But thats always going to be the common factor in video games. Their not going to make it like the fact it is in the real world, where if you take 1-2 shots you can be dead. Although it is possible to take on 20 guys in the real world and survive. Itz happened in military history. But the more realism that comes into play in games, the more strategy is called into play. That may be a turn off to some people. But from what I see, I think I'm seeing alot more people out there not caring about realism, but caring about an entertaining game.

I'll agree with that, but I'm not going into a flame debate. Lets just say theres enough ignorant people in US as there are in EU. A persons environment also influences them and political beliefs.

it has no single player replayability. Multiplayer is still filled with bugs. 
you can name a lot of bad things about hl2. You can name a lot of good things about hl2. Same thing with d3
