why is it always the people with <100 posts which come up with the biggest shit
sabin1981 wrote: | Horrordee wrote: | Questions:
1, WipeOut HD is in .JB format, not .PKG - what do I do with it? Never mind, I opened it in WinRAR and saw the right folders etc. Must have been dodgy release!
2, Am I right in saying everytime I turn my ps3 on, I have to go into Gaia and then "launch" a selected game, then wait for it to boot back and then play it? (direct launch doesn't work btw). Cant the machine remember the game you chose last time and let you play it without going via Gaia?
3, Anyone know why I have to reset my iPod Mini 1G every time I want to boot the PS3? On top of this, I also seem to have to unplug the PS3 power cable and plug it back in again! It's as if the hacked payload only works once before the iPod needs a hard reset (up and centre button held down together)?
If I do not reset the iPod before turning on my PS3 every time, I get the unknown device detected error! Is this normal for the iPod Nano 1G? |
1. I have absolutely NO idea what a .JB file is. Never heard of one and certainly not in relation to jailbreak rips :\
2. Yes, you have to do it every time. The "loading" of a game via Gaia is just basically mounting the data onto the BD-Emu .. the machine state gets reset back to default every time your reboot, so you have to remount the data.
3. No idea Sounds like a limitation with the ipod running the exploit.. |
Sabs,
1. The .JB was just a .RAR file in the end, lolz.
2. Ok, that's a bit annoying - would be better if launching games from within Gaia actually worked ... any ideas why it's so rubbish? Think they'll fix it?
3. Aye, probably - i've asked in the relevant threads over on psx-scene, so they should confirm if it's normal. To confirm, you do not need to unplug/replug in your PS3 every time you want to do the exploit? If it turns out we are NOT only limited to the back catelogue, then I will buy a minimus or something - but not until I know it's going to do me for years
4. Is it yet possible to Google search the Sabinpedia?
5. It would seem http://www.psjcl.com/ is no longer getting updated! I wanted to see if Fallout Las Vegas worked on external, but no record. Any better places to check compatibility?
6. Google search ready yet?
7. <3

LOL! Do you have extensions hidden or was it just some dumbfuck's idea of renaming the archive? Bah, I hate when people do that There was some discussion a while back about linking games and actually making XMB-style entries for direct loading, but it turned out - at the time - to need you to compile an application SPECIFICALLY for each game you want to make .. and even then, it's not very stable. I think most talk of it just fizzled out for a while :\
Sadly, again, if you've got a Slim then yes; you need to unplug the power each and every time you reboot the machine .. it's the only way to completely clear out the RAM (you can't "power off" the Slim totally as it just goes into standby mode). If you don't unplug the power (or hit the PSU switch on the phattie) the JB exploit doesn't work.
PSJCL is being updated, but slowly and it depends on user input. I can tell you though; New Vegas works fine from the external drive - AND! you can mod it like the PC version too. GG
...... and no, thank god! If I had Google tapped into my brain I'd never get any sleep

Whoaaaaa.... hold it pardner! You're playing Wipeout HD? Which one; PSN .PKG installer or a Jailbreak BD rip? I've got the EUR release of the BD-rip (Wipeout HD with the Fury addon) but I've had people begging me for the .PKG PSN release.

Why is that so hard to believe? You think its coincidence that its taken 4 years for it to be hacked? You think its coincidence that it was so easily patched back up? That you cant play games online? How many xbox 360 owners have 2 consoles so they can play genuine and backup?
Hacking is one thing, business is another. This is the best incentive other than a massive price drop to get people to buy the console if they havent already, and its also a great way to get people to buy an additional console for hacking purposes.
If the jailbreak people are so fantastic at hacking the PS3, why is their new backup manager so unbelieveably shocking from what they promised? Why hasnt anybody even come close to hacking 3.42 and 3.50? Why have all the innovations come from the community based off this exploit (and 10 times better than the updated bm) and not jailbreak team? Probably because the JB team have no clue what they are doing and were just handed the solution and are now trying to figure out how to sell as many as they can before their bubble bursts.

its early days, that's why not everything they promised has been delivered. That's why they've not "hacked" newer firmwares. There has only been ONE innovation come from the jailbreak team - the original hack. That "exploit" is the only way of hacking the machine, but it's open now and more hackers will be able to achieve more stuff given time. The actual hack was relatively simple you know.

Yep, it works now without needing to delete cutscenes =) You need PL3/Hermes V3 and one of the latest OBM, anything newer than 1.15.
-edit-
At least, that's the indication I've been given.

Hmm then my copy must be damaged or something. As I've just tried the following payloads:
- PL3
- Hermes V3
- Hermes V4(b)
- Hermes (with the waninko and mathielk addons, dont mind the spelling. ;p)
With OM1.16, OM 1.17, Gaia RC10, BM 1.0 to no avail :/

Anyone tried uncharted 2 from external hdd? Conflicting reports suggest it works from external after splitting the big files with psarc? I didn't think you could play an game externally after it's files > 4gig had been formatted? Did I miss something?

Yep, Uncharted 2 works perfectly from external when you use the PSARC method. It doesn't work for every game (Killzone 2, apparently, has issues with this method. As does GoW Collection) but it definitely works for Uncharted <3
