Gaia Manager got released in v1.01
- Automatically fix PARAM.SFO with PS3_SYSTEM_VERSION > 3.41
But you need Hermes v4 for that.

Depends on what system you have mate.
Slim = Yes. You'll lose the authentication keys.
Phat with no PS2 support = Yes. You'll lose the authentication keys.
Phat with PS2 support = No. Will work fine.
The reason is because the older PS2-compatible machines had 256MB of flash, so they stored the ENTIRE firmware/OS internally. Later machines have 16MB of flash so they store a large portion of the firmware/OS on the HDD. When you replace the HDD, the PS3 asks you to put the firmware update on a USB stick during install.

Sabin,
Thanks. I have PS2 support, so I'll give it a go when I have a new HDD.

Sweet! BTW it has a warning message to not be loaded on PL3. Any specific reason for it? I assume PL3 and Hermes are completely different, right? I currently have Hermes V4b.

The Payload some (lots) are pushing to become the default payload.
Its on github so that anyone can contribute to make it better etc...

is it better than hermes v4? and in what way?
and finally it annoys me people are claiming version X of gaia, bm, obm, etc will load games without a disk in the drive - i have heavy rain and can tell you they certainly CANNOT load that without a disk in the drive...

PL3 is cleaner, less buggy, more professionally "made for open source" also less likely to crash due to better management of memory.

Got today a genuine PS3Key, registered it and probably upgrading to HermesV4? To play backups from the internal drive, do I need just backup-manager (and which one?) and FTP-client? Other useful apps? | I'm a newbie to all of this, but what I used was Open Backup Manager 1.16 (look for one that's already compiled), and comgenie's awesome file manager to split files >4gb and merge them automatically when you put it on the internal HDD (when you prefer an external HDD over ftp transfers). Less of a hassle for me because I only have one internet port in my room and I don't want to buy an extra router.

That's what Kakarato keeps saying, yet I've never had a single issue with Hermes payload - certainly no crashes either.

Same Morti! <3 I ditched Blackb0x a while back, since Pretty Manager R4 has got an FTP client built in.

I like Gaia more, and it gets more frequent updates.

Actually atm, Open Manager v2.1F is by far the best option since it has all the functions of the other ones plus being able to install games on the external hdd, which is a big deal imo.
If you play your games off an external hdd, you SHOULD get this OM, since installing the game on external HDD will significantly decrease loading times and also save you alot of space on internal drive.
It seems the ps3 really hates having to read from 2 different places, so the best options are:
game on internal + install on internal or both on external.
PS: also it has automatic patching of games > 3.41
