i'm sure i'm developing arthritis ( Evil or Very Mad ) in my right hand from playing too many games. I'm looking for a mouse that minimises the stress on my nimble fingers Very Happy i dont wanna pay over the odds procies though nor do i want to lack quality (crap dpi) i dont care if its optical, wireless etc. or not as long as its cheap and comfy.

First you need to check these things before blaiming everything on the mouse:

1. Correct altitude and position of the chair. Uncomfortable cheap chair?
2. Correct altitude of the table.
3. Use armrests with the correct altitude.
4. Enough resting between playing?

According to your wishes the Razer Diamondback Magma 1600dpi should fit your needs. It's cord based but optical, very high dpi, optical etc. Reviews are very good too. I would have bought one myself but my MS explorer wireless 2.0 will have to do for a while. And don't forget to buy a good mousepad like Qpad. High DPI won't matter so much if you use a 1$ mouse pad.

edit:

Diamondback is better than the Viper. Just so you know...

yea i was looking into the magma diamondback but it just looks like a simple shape :/ i was thinking more along the lines of a mx518 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2142,CONTENTID=10121)
but again it's expensive really :/. i dont use a wrist rest i just use my desk, and my chair is pretty compfy and how does my posture effect my fingers?

Sublime, what you are developing is not arthritis but carpal tunnel syndrome (similar but not the same). razor1394 gave some excelent ways to minimize the stress, I would add one more simple one. Accelerate your mouse as much as you feel comfortable with. Less movement less stress.

Did you actually use that one? I'm thinking of grabbing it today, but I would like to hear a review first.
