Some have to do a 3rd thing that the nfo dont mention.
Try disabling the channel your cdrom uses also.
And by disabling I mean by using the same program, NOT by disconnecting your cables.

This made it work for me, disable cd and disable node was simple not enough for me.

So to sum it up.

1. disable CD
2. Disable node
3. Disable cdrom channel (if you have the cdrom on your second channel it's either "SC.Master OFF" or "SC.Slave OFF"). You have to find out yourself which channel it's on.

Yep ^^^^This method works nicely Very Happy

Ask a serial for online play...seems they've learned from soldier of ww2 !!!

Does anyone have a solution for online play ? At least for the IP to IP section ? Is there a way to remove that check and login routine ? It was not necessary in pre-1.3 German release, for LAN/IP...

Direct IP and LAN mp works perfectly for me. "Real" online play requires valid cdkey.

Figured out that shutting down a slave, master or both wasn't enough here. Instead shutting down the entire first channel (ch1, all devices on Primary), after cd and nodes did the trick. Only problem this causes is the temporary lockup which kills some programs like winamp.

Really ??? I have the old German release, Direct IP was never a "problem" but since patched to 1.3.0.0 it begin to ask for the online key even for Direct IP connection ! Would be great if this release is different... Laughing

hi guys
I've tried all the methods stated above, but I can't run the game.
I had the german version installed, and ran it with the registry hack (permissions - denied), and it worked. Also I had the new demo installed, but now, I've tried everything, and still it doesn't work.
Please, if you have any other ideas, please tell me, because I'm desperate Smile

For those who still can't play it:
If you have more than one CD/DVD drives, you can not disable both using Starforce Nightmare/Starf---er. Do the following instead:
1. Unplug the secondary CD/DVD drive physically (secondary slave pos)
2. Do the rest of the instructions as it was described before (Starforce Nightmare: disable CD, node, secondary master, mount the miniimage, etc) It worked for me.
Please feedback if it helped.

OK I`ve cracked it... Had to put both my cdroms on one chain ( ide cable ) but I followed the instructions including the cdrom channel turning off :
1. disable CD
2. Disable node
3. Disable cdrom channel (if you have the cdrom on your second channel it's either "SC.Master OFF" or "SC.Slave OFF")

So I had to put my DVD and DVDRW on the same cable and turn the cable off as well.. fixed Smile now the game... reminds me of GP Legends.. back end all over the palace!!!

I've managed to run it, by disabling ch2 also, where my dvdrw is. I did that earlier, but it didn't work until I've reinstalled the OS.
Thanks alot for the advices...and happy racing Smile

Tried everything here, only the one drive and I still get the error when it checks the CD... Sad

Using Daemon Tools 3.47, SFN.

I install the game, disable the drives, run the game it, so it tells me to restart as it installs copy-protection. Once restarted I re-disable the drives to make sure, then mount the mini-ISO.

When that autoloads I briefly get a command prompt box which disapears rapidly. I run the game using the shortcut, insert the CD-key and then the game refuses to validate the CD.. Crying or Very sad

P.S. Just to note, the virtual drive is D:\ , the real (disabled drive) is F:\
P.P.S First time I've had an issue with mini-images, DTM Race Drive 2 worked great (NCRYSO), but that was done better.

Since my last post I was testing these two like crazy, and I came to conclusion that is impossible to have them installed and working together Sad

And just one warning for ppl who have problems with GTR.. Don't forget to change/delete CD-Key in registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SBDT AB\GTR\SF Keys\DiscKey_GTR_CD1) if you had German version installed before. If you don't do it, the game will not run (doh!). I was going crazy before I noticed that the CD-Key was left after uninstall...

Well, I've got them both running fine.

I already had GTR (German mini image being used) up and running using an old version of starfuck.

I installed Second Sight and went through the rigmarole as stated in their nfo and ended up using the old starfuck to get this going too though Starforce Nightmare probably would do it ok too but why use that when the old one works fine and does for every single clone I've got.
I have my dvd burner as the slave on the second ide channel and all I do is run the secondary_all_cd which disables it then click on the popup to enable it again when I've finished.

I might add that I'd also already used the registry tweak from ages ago that I've never removed that hides the virtual drives.

OK...just tried Starforce Nightmare just so you know and it works also but I have to Disable node and Sc.Slave.Off

GTR still loads and plays fine after doing all this once I load the mini image.

No, I'm not.

I'm still on 1.2.3.0 because I'd read that the latest patch is a problem.

However, I'll make a backup of my GTR folder and update the game to see if it still works for me.

Sorry it's taken a while to get back..been busy.

I did muck around with this a fair bit and the answer is...

1.3.0.0 is a problem. I installed the patch and after going through the rigmarole of patching and cracking the sf drivers only one game will run.

I reinstated my unpatched GTR folder and everything's fine again so it's something within the GTR game rather that SF drivers outside the game.

If you want both games operating you've got two choices..( well, more than two I suppose as the games can be bought Wink )..don't upgrade GTR past 1.2.3.0 or do the long winded SF update/crack/reboot/reboot routine when you want to change between the two games as the first one you run after the first reboot is the one that works ok.
That's how it would be on my system anyway. And I still only need to use Starf*ck to disable my dvd rather than the Starforce Nightmare routine.

Yeah, that's correct.. File "SFDRV01.SYS" from GTR release is newer (1.25) than the one from Second Sight release (1.23). So if you crack it using the patch Carbon provided and then run GTR, the file gets replaced with newer version and the crack no longer works. I tried to crack version 1.25 of the file, found correct offsets, now Second Sight WORKS but GTR doesn't! Oh well, at least I tried.. I'm gonna keep the config where GTR works for now Smile
