I did try editing the single player world that I've got and making everything dynamite. The water, lava, dirt, gravel, sand, stone, etc. Too bad the game doesn't like that and crashes just as the world starts loading (it loads enough to see that everything as far as the eye can see is dynamite). Would be epic if it worked.
What would be epic about that? Just seeing it wouldn't be cool because it was artificially created - plain and boring. Setting it off wouldn't exactly be "epic" either. You'd get the typical 3+ seconds per frame chug (yes, spf, not fps) and then, well, there wouldn't be anything left. No, I'd predict the opposite of "epic" and call it lame.
You'd be better off just converting all the non-stone non-admin blocks into tnt. At least that *might* be interesting to see.

The hole that it made isn't necessarily epic, but the fact that they made 196 shafts down to bedrock, filled them with TNT, blew them up, then lined the walls after enlarging the hole is what intrigued me. As far as converting the blocks to TNT, I've tried that and it crashes the world before it ever loads.
Hobo Zombie: TRAAAAAAAIIIINNNNNNSSSSSS

Thanks for the idea Lutz!

Oh, I agree. That was awesome. And the fact that they did it all by hand (except for the /give command for the blocks) kicked ass.
I was referring to making EVERYTHING in the world, automatically, into TNT blocks. I don't think that would be so great. However, maybe you could try only modifying lava and lava/water springs. Turn those into TNT. Could make for some interesting digging adventures. And some pretty cool caves

Was gonna be massive, with buildings all around. But what it is now (from left to right then down and left to right etc);
:1:Main stairs, Hotel building Alpha, main building, hotel sign.
:2:Store rooms (all labelled and full, dont look at the left sign )
:3:Main slide climax and ladder
:4:Same as one really just got all stairs in but no sign
:5:Main staircase inside main building which leads to Main slide ( Main ftw)
:6:Top of main slide with transport slide at top right, greenhouse roof for spa+monoboat
:7:Hotel Room Alpha with glass windows and waterfalls
:8:Big ass sign
:9:Going down main slide
:10:Shells for rooms in building Alpha
:11:Alpha's glass roof
:12:Transportation slide, goes all the way in and through the city
Totally gonna build a castle in hell, also any chance we could generate new world when the update comes out?
Umm i heard ppl are talking about it... I think its a 99% chance for a new world after update I will return to the server once the update is up coz I loooove new worlds so many opportunities
Could be the usual case of a games journalist not knowing what he's talking about / careless choice of words, but that PC Gamer article mentions the biomes showing up only when a new world is generated. If that is true, making a new world is pretty much a given.

I might be wrong, but I seem to remember Notch saying biomes will appear as you explore the existing world generating new chunks as you go, there is no real need to generate a new world.
Not long till the update now, from what I understand Notch said the patch should go live as soon as its the 31st in Sweden. That's the plan anyway, whether the servers can handle the load is another thing entirely.
