I need to use v-sync or my gfx card fan goes crazy and heats up, you'd think I was trying to play Crysis, talking to other leaders seems to set it off most of the time

Lowering the number of other civs seems to help with the slowdown later in the game but I'm only running with 2gb at the moment

It can if your case's cooling is absolute shit and your card's running very hot by default. Vertical synchronization would put it just under the 'burning up' mark due to the reduced stress.

And by the way, where's the repackshitters and my cracked update? Sad

my guess is that if they haven't released it by now, they're waiting for the dlc to be released Monday.

Updated files and NCF's, requires the previous updates to work and as usual is untouched so it works via loader or emulator only, mostly just to have the files uploaded and available for anyone who requires them.

After installing patch I played a Standard Continents map, Prince difficulty as Chinese - they have uber Paper Maker building --> free Colosseums Cool Easily won this one, AI is much better but still very vulnerable at early stages.

Now playing Large Continents map, Prince difficulty as English. For some reason Large maps perform better than Standard for me - no jerking scrolling, less wait time between turns Surprised

After the patch I am playing on defense side for the first time, France is my neighbor and is a real monster - conquered the Chinese after they were badly hit by barbarians, have 3000+ military rating, mine is 1400+ was much lower, I started upgrading my units like mad as soon as France begun to align their units along our border Very Happy After a few turns they pushed back.

Now AI does surgical strikes, no more unending killing sprees. And Large maps seem to give AI so badly needed breathing space Smile

Also post patch AIs diplomacy wise are total dicks, fair deals for luxury resources are almost impossible, AI goes for 1-for-1 exchanges mostly if it really desperate. Often it's 2-for-1, but it's possible to micromanage a better deal if you have spare luxury resources ala 1-for-1 + 5GPT + ~30G and then you sell other luxury resource for 5GPT - ~7G, negating 5GPT to AI from the first deal.

Nice patch, hope next one will keep improving AI and fix balancing issues.

I have yet to see them give up on any game they made patches before.

Although it's a trend for them to release every other patch for some older games.

I think they are just waiting Mongols DLC to be released (and maybe hotfix for that save game issue withe deluxe edition), so they don't need to release multiple updates in short time.

I don't know what is the reason to wait for dlc as 2 releases or 1, it will be the same size in the end, maybe they have problems cracking it.

I doubt it. I think it's just matter of convenience.

I mean, put in nfo search SKIDORW, and you'll see they have releases almost every day, sometimes multiple releases per day. That's just a lot of work for a single group, even if crack is trivial.

It's more the noise, the fan is very noticeable and I get some capacitor whine without v-sync on, if fps is too high, which is very annoying at night
I consider the room getting warmer to be a bonus

Didn't Starcraft 2 fry some people's cards with this exact problem?

I hope this new patch mixes up the starting positions a bit, every time I have at least one Civ very close to me while the rest are fairly spread out, quite often an AI Civ gets a huge continent all to themselves Sad

Heh... I had this with my old 1600pro radeon.

Anyway, cooling for most graphics cards is optimized for high 3d load, not 2d load, so super high frame rate on 2d screens can indeed lead to temperatures higher then with normal games.

I get way to many isolated starts on Continents maps. I think we are just unlucky with a random number generator Very Happy

$5? For a single civ? If that's not a "bend over and take it" to legit customers I don't know what is. I"ll wait till they pack up all that DLC a year from now and put it at 88% off during the Christmas sales.

Greeeeeedy motherfuckers.

Without a doub't.
And alls they will get what is unique about the civilization is 2 different units like they get on every other civ.
Shocking.

Well, it's not exactly like that. There is a leader animation and voice-over in native language for the diplomacy screen.

$5 is steep price, but not a rip-off. I think civ DLCs should be priced at $1.99

Units don't even talk in their native language(they dont talk at all) anymore, making it what civ you pick even more pointless. At least they could have done something to make it feel unique Sad

If it isn't update with free Mongolian DLC, it could be hotfix that was planned to fix issues with deluxe edition save compatibility.

Sorry about that, I missed editing my post to better clarify that it was a regular patch and not a scene release and that from the info I found it's a hotfix for some issues in the previous update.

It's version 1.0.0.621 instead of 1.0.0.62
