The game is "playable" for me too, without the DLL, it's just the performance is too low for me to consider "fine", as you can tell in the screenies I shot. FO3, with max settings, never had this kind of perf-hit -- though it did stutter a lot at first -- so, IMO, it's something to do with the game that is causing the low perf. |
Yep, my performance problem is just, like I said, with the NPCs when I look at them. So, for me, it has something to do with game and it's NPCs and not with some driver or something else. Obsidian/Beth better get their shit straight instead of shoving the problem to NVidia/ATI to be able to continue cruisin on the "Lazy Highway".
I don't have "this" problem with Fallout3. So it has to be NeVe (for me!).
Hopefuly they won't wait with any further patches until they got their first DLC ready...

Sounds like the FaceGen thing and the supposed fix is "ToggleEmotions" in the console, but that didn't work for me either. I gained around 2-3fps AT BEST.

Yep, same here. Doesn't really do shit. And lowering the graphics and resolution doesn't do shit either.

Gotta say i don't like how fucking strong the deathclaws are. I can kill them fine on my own by crippling their legs and then just kiting them around but playing on hardcore it's impossible to have my companions with me. Rex gets totally raped in a few seconds and Raul despite his power armor doesn't survive much longer. Then again I die in 3-4 hits despite having 10 endurance and fully repaired enclave armor.
I mean did they even play trough the game on very hard / hardcore with companions?
Oh and does anyone else just feel a huge urge reinstalling fallout 2 while playing vegas?

if you start a fight with a deathclaw by using a sneak crit youre chances of killing it are a lot higher. at level 14 with a silenced sniper rifle i can drop most before they get to me, course when they do you gotta start shootin quicker cause they do hurt

How does an anti material rifle fare against Deathclaws?
I think I heard a gun runner guard say something along the lines of "have you ever seen what one of those anti material rifles does to a deathclaw?"
I think I'm gonna cheat myself one and have a look

The problem is that the companions are so fucking stupid and just rushes to their deaths and considering how much damage deathclaws deal it's almost impossible to save them. I easily managed to get to the enclave armor without my companions despite having to fight 6 deathclaws at the same time but fighting 2 deathclaws with my companions leads to the death of at least one of them...

I threw in some different d3d9.dll from a fix and it solved all my fps issues.
It used to be like..borderline unplayable in some areas with more than a handful of characters around and now it's silky smooth at all times.
try some of this stuff http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34778

lol sorry, wasn't following the thread too much, the quoted post there just made it seem like you ran out of options with no solutions.
d3d9.dll ftw
god it was so awful to fight cazadores with 5 fps....needless to say I died horribly, many times, until d3d9.dll saved me.
and the strip was literally a slideshow.
btw: page 100 incoming!

A interesting Securitron appearance changer, will probably lead to further possible extensions.
(Having just gotten to the part where they can look different it seems easy to alter must be some basic texture and alpha channel for transparency over the screen stuff.)

I am doing the wheel of fortune quest and gotten the radiation suit package, brought it back. Now hose 3 guys put them on and tell me to lead the way, but I don't have any suit. Is this normal? I have a space suit but it doesn't give me any resistance as I still get 1 rad/sec

You just have to truck on through the rad, man.

It gives 40% rad resistance, not 40 rads.

When you go to an area that gives you +2 or more rad/sec, you put on the space suit and the rad will go down by half. It is working, it's just that +1 is the minimum rad you get even if you have rad resistance AFAIK.

Damn them quest glitches. The Contreras unmarked quest can't be completed with the optimal outcome, and now I hit a couple of bugs doing the last section of the quest before the NCR endgame point of no return.
Spoiler: | First of all, when I was supposed to talk to Ranger Grant for the first time, about the president's visit, the dialogue would glitch out after the first sentence. I had to check the Fallout Wiki, which presented a workaround involving disabling and re-enabling Grant through the console. Then it worked correctly.
And then there was the president's speech itself. It panned out in the end, but the third assassination attempt (the engineer charging with a knife) glitched. When the president was speaking, I noticed a sniper pushing off a Ranger from the tower some distance behind the stage. It took him down. Then the speech eventually came to an end, and I checked the vertibird while Kimball was leaving the stage. Found the bomb and defused it. Once the VIP was airborne, I told Grant I'd sniped a sniper, and he went all, "Let's cancel the speech and get the president to safety!" And then people started running and stuff, and the Legion engineer started dashing towards the (empty) landing pad, knife in hand. He took a .50 round to the back, so I don't know what could've happened if I hadn't stopped him, even if Kimball had left like five minutes earlier. Maybe the glitch would've extended to a successful assassination just because the engineer was running and nobody stopped him. Who knows.
But that part of the quest was successfully completed shortly after the vertibird disappeared behind the nearby ridge, so I'm glad I can continue playing. Still, it's rather immension-breaking. |

You'll never be completely immune to radiation. I guess, unless you take special perks.
The Advanced Radiation Suit (and the Space Suit) gives you +40% rad resistance, and Rad-X gives +35%. I had a natural 6% resistance (might be related to Endurance, who knows), so that's a total of 81%, which means +1 rad areas could give you 0.19 rads per second.

Is there any way to reset my reputation with a faction?
I know the setreputation console command but even if I set myself to idolized the powder gangers still attack me :/
Or is there a legitimate in game way to get them to like me so they'll at least talk to me?

That's buggy as hell, too.
I was Vilified with Caesar's Legion and the Great Khans and they still wouldn't attack me on sight. In the Legion's case, they only did if Boone was with me.
