Nightmare on Elm Street - 5/10 - Meh.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - 3/10 - Whoever was responsible for this was on a lot of acid and LSD. Even as a gamer I found this movie remarkably stupid. Not even a chuckle. It got 3 points because the main female lead reminded me a bit of Allison Scagliotti.

Acid and LSD is the same thing Razz visually interesting (like LSD can be), but i agree that it wasnt even remotely funny which would be kind of the main reason to watch a comedy to begin with.. I'll rate it 4/10.

6/10 Scott Pligrim vs. the World.

Not sure what this movie tried to be, but it never had a good feeling of direction, seemed it was going on just for the purposes of going on and showing the battles, which weren't all that impressive, maybe that's because I never really enjoyed martial arts fighting scenes. They constantly use metaphors for everything in this movie, and although I got most of them, they didn't do anything for me. They fancy effects, editing and transition, also didn't contribute anything to me enjoying it more. I got a few chuckles out of some scenes though, and the girls were pretty so it gets a 6.

Inception 2/10 - Came in expecting a glorious film, given all the positive feedback I've heard from people all around me (even reliable sources). Given that it's headlined by Mr. Di Caprio (who was good in Gangs of New York) I expected even more. But it turns out it's a big disappointment for me. First of all the plot conveyed, while philosophically interesting on the surface (dreams within dreams, et cetera) the characters have utterly no meaning to me. The narrative is also most often too fast-paced for my liking, but erratically slows down in some scenes, I believe the writer wanted to be a bit creative with the pacing - which was not to my liking. Whilst the effects, and the overall production quality of the movie are near perfect - Inception fails to move me beyond the polished varnish it presents. As for Leo, he is forced and overacts in many of the scenes; which does not surprise me given how he's been thrown out of his elements once too often (although I believe he was quite alright in The Island) I simply do not see him as strong enough of a main character for a movie like this, that tries to be epic on a James Bond/Matrix/Memento kind of level. He is simply too dull and boyish for it. All-in-all it turns out to be sort of like the last iteration of James Bond, which also had fantastic visuals but like Inception is a jumble of fast pacing, quick cuts, and uninspired writing and characters.

I expect most will disagree with me here, but meh. I enjoyed A-Team more than this, in spite of it's cliché comic relief action sort of writing.

Scott Pilgram - 6/10 - really dissapointed - it started really well and I had high hopes, but it turned into a stupid cgi 7 fights and the film is over. limited story if i'm honest, didn't really engage. I just got bored during all of the stupid fights. Yawn.

lol, wtf. you have any idea what a 2/10 movie actually is? Rolling Eyes

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0132000/ or even http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0949731/ maybe.

So I assume you're just trolling with that rating.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - 5/10

A huge disappointment for me, since I found it quite unengaging, uninteresting and very far from being even remotely funny, not to mention the non-existent plot and the cheesy lines. The movie is technically well made and creative, but I got tired of it sooner than expected.

For me, it's Inception. 2/10 is a waste of time. I thought this movie was a waste of time.

I get why you are upset, I probably would be too. Maybe I am too dumb to 'get' the movie. *shrug*

edit: Apparently southpark made a short version of the movie, :goodstuff:

Yes the first Ip Man is amazing - I'd say it's on par with Drunken Master 2 with Jackie Chan. The sequel is nothing special and the prequel is fucking wank.

I saw both Ip man 1 and 2 and they were both amazing. 1 is better than the second but the second is still pretty good. 9/10 for 1 and 7/10 for the 2nd.

Also saw karate kid which was a pretty predictable film all the way through, but what else can you except from Hollywood these days? 5/10

Scott Pilgrim VS The World - 4/10

Absolute crushing disappointment. I was looking forward to this for so long, but it's just vacuous nonsense. Horrible characters (both unlikeable and poorly drawn), no plot, just a galactic shit-tonne of video game references and effects scenes. Such a shame because I love everyone involved Sad On a technical level it has some plus points (well edited, nicely shot etc) but in terms of characters and plot it's just all over the fucking place.

im not exactly a fan of nolan. I'ive said many times that his batmans haven't impressed me and i dont much care for them - and as such had little interest in inception...

but... fine... put my hand up, and admit that yeah... i liked it.. 8/10 for me, was well made, interesting and reasonably clever

it is NOT the pinicle of filmmaking that the drooling masses that vote on imdb seem to think, nor is it the be all and end all of movie awesomeness that some of the people here believe it to be, but definately one of the top 5 movies of the year.

i am still NOT a nolan believer, but im an inception convert... ill admit again, a great movie and i enjoyed it. happy to be wrong about it.

Chiv, Have you seen Memento? To me this is stil Nolans best Smile It's smart, it's original, and he didn't steal the idea from some Scrooge comic :-p (stil need to get my hands on that comic tho, i loved those scrooge stories written by Keno Don Rosa)
