Yeah as covered (A number of times while it was discussed.) the new engine update was found and proven to run at 30 FPS instead of 60, the result I guess was that it is now much less laggy and stuttery and the wonky physics and animations are vastly improved but at a slower FPS rate.

I was dissapointed by Div II. It lacked the charm of it's predecessor. It was bland, monotone and had maybe one joke worth laughing at.
( remember when in Divine Divinity that kid led one of the chosen to a trap set by a dragon knight saying sth like "sorry guv, money is money", only to be killed by the dragon knight in return "money is money kid, hahahahahaha!" Good times )
I hope FoV will be worth playing.

Is the expansion worth the trouble of going through the entire game again? It was a good game but not one of my favorites. If it's just more of the same, I'll skip it I guess.

The game as I played trough it with 1.4 is mostly the same but updated here and there, that might not have been the fully updated and remastered content however.
FoV works stand-alone (EDIT: Needs the main game but you can start with it directly.) as well as covered earlier in the thread (I posted a few screens some time ago for example.) so you don't have to import a character.
Items and such remain mostly the same, expansion is more difficult however partially due to the respawning and higher-level content, some new and more unique looking equipment can also be acquired and on the whole I liked the expansion better than the original though it is shorter and a bit more restrictive and linear, end battle (Though I never played that far.) is also said to be somewhat unfair and poorly balanced but it might have been patched or improved in this release.

Hm, I thought this "remastered edition" incorporated the expansion. I guess I'll just play the expansion if that's possible then. Is there any clear info what exactly is remastered?

It does incorporate the expansion (FoV and Divinity 2 updated makes up Dragon Knight Saga edition whereas existing Divinity 2 owners can just grab FoV and get patched to the latest version it uses and get the expansion area and content that way and cheaper.) but you can choose what to play when you start a new game if they've kept it as in the German version released a few months ago, as to what was changed sort of everything in some subtle ways and a few larger overhauls.
GFX and the game engine and performance is vastly improved but as covered you run the game at 30 FPS now and not 60, if you've played trough the game once it won't be all that different but that's partially based on version 1.4 / FoV the German version of the exapansion, while it did alter things in Div 2 it wasn't that large of a overhaul, this full Dragon Knight Saga might do more than what that did but I have very little info on that.
(Early on DX10 and DX11 functionality was also considered and even "just" FoV 1.4 worked much better than earlier Divinity 2 in the base game.)

I think I played the German to English version, the bastardized one with German and English files. It had German speech if I remember correctly. Was that version 1.0?

The first hack was to use the German version 1.0 with English placeholder files that existed, this worked until 1.2 when the proper English version came out and then the 1.3 update that fixed a number of remaining issues and game engine problems (Though not as extensive as the 1.2 overhaul which went as far as to replace most of the textures in the game with higher res ones, this was done again in 1.4 / FoV as part of the GFX improvements to it.)
This was attempted again with the German Flames of Vengeance version and English 1.3 Divinity 2 merged together somewhat, it broke the expansion dialogue however though the base game was fully playable with all updated features and functionality but the expansion had to be reverted back to the default files to work properly (Called version 1.4 and the expansion is largely a major update to the game.)

Interesting, might be possible to "acquire" the English related files as a replacement for the expansion data I have, not that it would do much and it might not even work if the data files work differently (That inversed endian format or what it was about.) but we'll see.

That was Risen though it wasn't particularly useful, the Divinity 2 files existed already as of 1.0 German but where unused, due to a lot of effort from various people a unpacker and a method to repack the files and make them usable was found and later it was found out how to make it compatible with the 1.2 update.
X360 ISO is just below 6GB though which is interesting as Div 2 with the expansion is roughly 9 nearly 10 GB here.
(Compression differences and probably doesn't use the highest quality textures - not that there's a massive difference - which is fairly usual from the disc images I've compared.)

It's out. I'd buy it, but I don't have €40 to spare right now and I plan on getting Black Ops ... some come on Reloaded/Razor1911/SkidRow ... don't let me down | Probably the last game I'll buy this year, but it's one of the few that deserves it.
I'm not too fond about that securom shit though.

Nah, it's been down as 5th/6th November for a few weeks now. Really looking forward to it
DarkRohirrim wrote: | No Sabin, not you. How can you spend your remaining money on that game and not on Dragon Knight Saga? I thought the first release will be a cracked steam version, but if it's available to buy it normal, then we might have a clonedvd and then a crack. Either way, hope we'll see a release pretty soon. |
Because unlike some people, I don't despise Call of Duty. 1000hrs+ in MW1, 437hrs in MW2. Played and finished BO campaign on the 360 and loved it .. and, so far, all the MP info and vids we have on BO show it to be the absolute best of MW1/MW2 and WaW. So yes, I'm buying it I already own DivII and I would buy the expansion on its own if it brought the new engine changes with it, but it doesn't... they only come as part of DKS at the moment and coming to DivII standalone with a patch "further down the line"

I'm going to give this another shot. When I wanted to play Divinity 2 on release it ran like shit on my pc, very choppy graphics although I could play any other game just fine. Tried again with my new pc and then it ran fine, but after playing Risen the mediocre graphics put me off too much.
