I could, a regular Impreza as a daily driver wouldn't be bad at all
Well, I never really hated the latest models, was a bit sad to see the "classic" sedan body style disappear from the lineup (but it's ok, since the sedan is back now )

You want fun try my BMW320D Msport i can't even get it off the driveway in the snow! great fun I miss my Integrale |
Haha, why not? What model? E46? |
BMW's are notoriously bad in snow, mine is a E90
Same as this one, not my car just a photo i had in my photo folder when i was thinking of fitting the carbon splitters.

yeah man, just make up any date and it'll be about as reliable as a date we get from the devs.

I heard GTS was delayed just because they wanted to add some more security measures.

That's why it is being delayed due to piracy.
And on games that have cost so much money and been in development so long, who can blame them?

Piracy is probably the excuse, not the reason. PD were late getting the game to Sony, which taken at face value apparently means they lost their production window and are struggling to find a slot in amongst all the other bookings. Either way a December release would be fine by me as it would make a nice Christmas present (to myself).
See a video of the X1 in action; http://www.gtplanet.net/red-bull-x1-sebastian-vettel-gameplay-video-screenshots/
...and some interesting tidbits to tide you over;
Quote: | Snow is similarly impressive, hitting the windscreen in thick clumps before melting into water and being wiped from view. Flakes start to clump in thick grass, tree branches and tracksides before slowly setting onto the track, one lap at a time. It's not just how stunning the weather effects look, though, but their unpredictability which most impresses. Weather even alters the temperature, air pressure and humidity on the track.
Forecasts are available for each race, but in a cruelly realistic twist, aren't always accurate. During long races, clouds move across the sky, darkening the track and forcing a constant re-assessment of your race strategy. Failure to read the changing conditions could mean the difference between victory and crashing out.
Daylight alters during longer races, too. Night slowly sets in, reducing visibility and necessitating the use of hi-beam headlights over normal ones. In a 24 hour race, the sky's hue changes slowly fades to black and back without any animations. Stunning. In keeping with the hyper-realism, Polyphony have even included 'time-syncing' on real-life circuits. This allows you to match the time of day in-game to that of the real track - meaning if it's night time in Monza, you'll have to race in the dark...
[...]
Online Rally is a time trial, with each car staggered by 10 seconds. |
- Heavy snow accumulation will continue to make the track more slippery, and “ruts” will be carved into the snow as you drive to make conditions even more challenging.
- Mechanical damage and failure will include things such as broken gearboxes, brake failures, and stalled engines.
- You’ll be able to create and define your own special events within the game, presumably giving you complete control over all race variables and competitors.
- In B-Spec mode, you’ll simultaneously manage the racing careers of up to six different drivers. You will have to push them, but take it too far and their morale and performance will suffer. For 24-hour endurance events, you will choose four of your drivers to compete together on your race team.
- Next to races in daylight, some races are at late afternoon, at sunrise, or during the night. All can have rain and/or snow conditions.
- There are more than 100 tracks in 20 different locations in GT5.
- Both premium and standard model cars will include fully operational reverse lights, horns, and will accumulate dirt and grime which must be washed off by these guys.
- Point to point Rally stages.
- Imprecise weather forecasts combined with randomnly generated Rally circuits, making things unpredictable and forcing you to rely on your co-pilot.
- Official NASCAR rules and regulations.
- In Photo Mode pictures can be taken in 3D too.
- You will be able to trade cars with your friends – including those which you have tweaked and tuned for maximum performance.
- Players with GT PSP can transfer their cars to GT5. If you don't have GT PSP than you can unlock cars and tracks in various modes, like career mode, championship races and license tests. For the more casual player a kind of “best of GT5” is available in arcade mode.

Apparently Polyphony Digital like releasing their games in December around Christmas. All of their games bar one have been released in December, and apparently they get magically delayed from November to December too (happened with GT4 at least). So, hopefully December - since it would fit in with their 'Holiday 2010' release projection.
Game is featured in Top Gear's December magazine;
Quote: | Gran Turismo 5 - the latest, greatest instalment of the epic Playstation franchise featuring the TopGear test track - is nearly here. No, really, it is. In a world-exclusive preview, we meet its creator to find out how the sights, sounds and unidentified smells of Dunsfold were committed to the virtual world... and why the hell it's taken to long. TopGear.com |
Interview with Kaz in Esquire next month reveals first tiny glimpse of night racing on Nurburgring;
Says game will be out next month too (link), whilst someone on neogaf tells us a Sony rep gave December 8th as the release date.

Well, they vaguely announced "holiday season" which usually extends until late January. We'll see i guess.
The fact that it has apparently gone gold is a good sign for a 2010 release tho. I hope someone will get it to work on 3.41.

Their speculation about placeholder dates has been updated with the news of the game going gold. You'd be more informed reading neogaf and gtplanet

I'm looking forward to this game as much as anyone, and I'll still be picking it up day one, but I've gotta be honest, that preview from top gear makes me want to puke. It's a fucking racing game, not the second coming of jesus christ. And dammit, if it got delayed this long it had BETTER be fucking good. Almost as bad as reading peter molyneux try and describe fable ;P

There's no official release date, these are all just placeholders. Amazon.co.uk have just set theirs for the 17th of December. I'm hoping that one pans out personally because as I say it'd make a great Christmas present

Hey, you could argue it's the second coming of Jesus Christ in videogame format as far as the racing genre is concerned.

If you consider Forza 3 the first coming of Christ, this is indeed the second. Recent NFS games were just false prophets.

I don't, but funny nonetheless
It is interesting how many supposedly good racing games there seemed to be coming up to the end of the year and how many of them turned out to be shit.
