So I haven't played Chaos Rising yet. Which patches do I need besides 2.30 and 2.50? There's a lack of cracks around, so I'm assuming I need some kind of special loader? :/

You need the revloader. You can find a rar of mine that has all the files needed in the technical section.

INatan wrote a guide in the dox or tech sub-forum about it (EDIT: Was answered.), patch I uploaded previously should be complete and all that's needed from my patches but Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising must be installed and patch 2.10 I think it's called isn't included either due to it's very large file size.
(DoW 2 with Chaos Rising is at 2.0.0, then there was 2.1.0 and now the current version is 2.5.0 as far as I'm aware as of this latest update.)
Was expecting things to quiet down a bit and then the new expansion would be released but it seems it will be a separate and stand-alone title so there will probably be future patches for this DoW 2 pack and then the new one when it's released.

Really? I installed the game, copied razor's crack, copied over JB's patch, then re-copied steamapi.dll and it works fine. Shows 2.5 and everything.

Does it have the _210 version SGA archives as is then? good to know, wasn't aware of that.

So I need to... Install Chaos Rising -> 2.1 patch -> 2.5 patch -> Leo's loader pack -> Play?
Do I need to have vanilla DoW2 installed as well? I thought it was a stand-alone game, and dezztroy even went as far as saying Chaos Rising contains everything from vanilla, which makes that one completely unnecessary.

I am a bit uncertain about this, vanilla was patched to 2.0.0 which turned it into Chaos Rising but the new content wasn't active until you purchased the game, unsure if Chaos Rising's release includes everything as I do not have it myself.
(Installing Chaos Rising downloads DoW 2 as well when used via Steam.)

Yep.
Unless there are any other sga files besides data, sound, and speech.
EDIT: In case it's not clear, those 210 files are included with razor's release as part of the crack.

No need for original, the release of CR has both games. Just install patches and use my RAR for the laoder.

Good to know DraySpittle, that does cover all of the 2.1.0 update which isn't included in this homemade "patch" thing, haha.
(Could be better but as is I just take the date modified files and upload it along with the NCF's for those who want them and then it should work via a loader or emulator, was hoping cracks and similar proper releases would surfaces and take over but I guess that would disable MP functionality as a side effect, it's not a problem to upload the data though unless another major patch is released that further pushes up the file size.)

Sooo....I'm confused (first time trying the expansion).
I install the Razor CR release...then what? I got JB's 2.5.0 pack and Leo's loader pack. What's this thing about 2.1.0?

@zmed 2.1.0 is the initial version that comes with the Razor release.

Houston, we've had a problem!
I updated my Chaos Rising with the last patch uploaded (2.5) and now it doesn't run. It only asks me to open steam, and when I do so, it takes me to the purchase page of the game...
PD. Yes, I'm running it from the RevLoader

I had the same problem and I fixed it using the Revloader from here (which contains the required files including the modified steamapi.dll) :

Just beat it. Ran it the same way DraySpittle did: install Razor's release, copy over JB's 2.5 patch and re-copy steamapi.dll. No issues whatsoever on my playthrough, and the version number was properly showing as 2.5.0.something.
One thing bugged me about Chaos Rising however, and I don't remember if vanilla DoW2 had the same problem. Sometimes once a boss is killed, the game immediately enters cutscene mode, which is obviously intended. However, I see some of those bosses drop blue/purple items, and I can't possibly grab them due to the cutscene! Then the mission ends, and the items are lost. They aren't automatically collected.

Something odd is happening: I hadn't really played MP till today, I wanted to do some Last Stand rounds but as soon as I found a team, my Chaos Rising crashed to Windows with a Relic Crash Report... Is anyone else having this issue?
Update: I ran an experiment and the same happens when joining a LAN skirmish game.

It's something to do with the new GWL update. It didn't hit me but my buddy and I have been playing fine all week then the moment he updates GWL he gets constant crashing when doing anything online related. SP works just fine, the second he goes into MP it crashes every time at random intervals

I didn't play it again since I finished DoW2 early this year or so, but now it doesn't even start anymore, neither DoW2 nor CR which I got when it was only 10 bucks some time ago. No matter if I start it via the desktop link or via Steam itself, I only get the "Preparing to launch" window for half a second, then nothing, no window popping up, no error report. It simply won't load.
Something I noticed, though, is that CR goes through the first five installation steps each time I reboot. The game is updated to the latest patch, the integrity of the cache is fine, I have the newest Nvidia drivers installed (260.99), DirectX is also current (June 2010)... I really don't get it.

Is LIVE installed and up to date along with it's prerequisites?
(.Net 3.5SP1, 4.0 along with hotfixes also available but both can co-exist and should for compatibility reasons which is to say it doesn't quite work just to install 4.0 with it's updates.)
Also uses VC++ 2005 or 2008 redists.
(.Net and LIVE also uses these somewhat, LIVE in particular.)

I had this, turned out it was an update having problems updating or something. Try deleting your client blob from the Steam folder, and let Steam update itself and the games.

That didn't fix it.

Hrmm... didn't have .Net 4.0 installed, but downloading it now via the MS Update page as I type this. Both VC++ are installed, as is LIVE (although I'm also installing 3.4 now via the Update page), but Chaos Rising installs a LIVE version itself. Shouldn't that one be the latest one anyway? :/
Anyway, seems like I have to reboot now, so brb...

Still refuses to start. >_<
I now went through all my currently installed Steam games (not that many, mind you), and it seems DoW2 isn't the only one with problems. Chronicles of Riddick does it as well, and Red Faction: Guerilla didn't start either...
[Edit before even posting this ^^]: Wait, scratch that. I just tried it again and now RF:G starts. O_o
Could this be related to LIVE maybe? It seems to have some serious connection problems right now (website doesn't load at all every now and then, there was even a message about it on the server status page [which now doesn't load either, go figure...]).

Yep, you're right: http://community.dawnofwar2.com/blog-post/gfwl-update-and-crashing
It's a bug and they are working on it.

Riddick wouldn't start for me, but I verified the integrity of the game cache, and it ran fine after that. There has just been a Steam Client update of the past couple of days, maybe it has something to do with that?

Is Chronicles a GFWL game as well? It has been too long since I last played it, so I can't really remember. DoW2 is definitely one, as is RF:G...
If it is, then I do suspect LIVE being the culprit somehow, because all the other games (Valve and non-Valve) run just fine.

Meh... guess I'll just have to try again next year then when I'm going to get my new computer. It's not like I don't have enough other things to do... My current "Downloads" folder is closing in to 200 GB. ^^
