If ubi use sf3 the way they did with silent hunter, just wait fr Splinter.Cell-Chaos-Theory.RELOADED and Cold.Fear.RELOADED

Then again, if Ubi is using SF3 this round, one of the two (SC:CT or Cold Fear) you probably wont be seeing until sometime in May or June.

Isn't that the game that doesn't even have PS2 support = looks like crap on all new ATi hardware? *yaaaaaaaawn*

The demo ran perfectly fine at 1280*1024 everything maxed with my x800 pro VIVO. I seriously doubt you'll notice any difference between the nvidias and the ATIs in this game, since it's not really that FPS dependant like other shooter games like HL2 etc.

There is a considerable difference in image quality between playing it using shader model 3.0 (nvidia 6800+) and with 1.1 (all atis, geforce fx and below).

It stills look good with 1.1, but 3.0 just looks better Smile

If you want I can post screenshots with the difference

no doubt it looks far better with shader model 3 than with 1.1 - SC3 even supports HDR which is the only thing that can not be done with shader model 2. Despite the lack of shader 2 support (fuck Ubisoft, Nvidia must have paid you a lotta cash) I'd absolutely welcome a good, working crack just to hurt Ubisoft as much as possible. I expect tons of problems for legal users of this game simply because of the SF3 protection. And Ubisoft is one of the distributors that don't give a shit if you got a problem. Their policy is like "thanks for buying, now fuck off". FarCry is the best example...

why so, they've released several patches for far cry, that's not telling everyone to fuck off.

Anyway, this game will be so nice with a top notch compy with a new graphic card from nvidia in it... the demo was lovely.

So, when valve makes games that works like shit on nvidia boards everything's just dandy and no complaint was heard from the ati-crowd, but when ubisoft releases a game that works better on nvidia cards ubi sucks?, seems a bit hypocritic to me.

Ubi didn't include sm2 since it would have taken too much time to implement, especially when ati are releasing their new cards that support sm3 in a few months.

negative. brother in arms has gone gold before ubisoft began using starforce 3... from silent hunter on every ubi game, u.s. or eu it doesn't matter, is going to be starforce...
just wait 2 days and you'll have proof of that with chaos theory and cold fear

I would have bought the game today if the store I went to hadn't been packed with ppl. The guy selling the games would have sold it to me if only the store had emptied out. I waited like an hour before going home to check the net instead. *STUPID*

Well, i'm off to the store again tomorrow morning. Very Happy (which btw is not so much tomrrow as today.)

what? Can you explain further? The Valve game runs like shit in Nvidia's newest generation cards? And yeah, "in a few months" ATi users will have upgraded to the newest ATi cards with shader model 3 support just because there are a bunch of games out there which run only on SM3....... that's quite a surreal scenario, isn't it? Rolling Eyes

drhansson: releasing patches doesn't mean everything's fine. In fact their patches caused major problems on various machines, so that one couldn't even launch the game due to memory holes. That's not what I call 'support'.

Seems to me the lack of SM3 support is ATI's fault, not Ubisoft's or any other game studio. It's not like HardOCP, Anandtech, and a dozen other review sites didn't point out that huge potential issue in the cards long before they went on sale anywhere too. Anyone who bought a X800 series should have known that they'd be looking at having to upgrade much sooner than usual.

Far Cry I'll give you though, as I recall there was a patch (1.2?) so fucked up that they had to recall it.
