Well , in case of Open Manager i would've expected it to delete the entire OMAN folder in which case removing it would not be enough. Moving did not work either using WinSCP and the blackbox ftp server. Resulted in some weird error but it just wouldn't move anything . In the end i abandoned the idea and from what i read you can just install a newer version of open manager on top of the old one and keep your games ( though i haven't tried this so i can't be held accountable for an eventual loss of games ^_^ )

This is true sir.

When you guys do updates, do you do them online? I don´t want to connect to their servers to do updates in case they are collecting data. Is there a good guide on how to install updates offline by downloading updates via PC? I see some older guides like this: http://www.ps3news.com/forums/ps3-hacks/updates-ps3-jailbreak-games-112967.html

Does it still apply to the newest payloads and BM?

Totally agree and I don´t really care about online play at all. I am just afraid that at some point they might some kind of trigger that cripples the PS3.

Possibility I suppose but if they were going to do that and it was that easy and legal wouldnt they have done it allready instead of all the other lengths they have gone to?

Food for thought

Well dunno, maybe they are finding out if they are legally allowed to do so? Seems Sony is a lot more rabid when it comes to the jailbreak that microsoft has been with the Xbox. That is why I am cautious.

I really doubt it would take Sony 1 month+ ( maybe more - can't recall when JB hack was first released ) to find out whether or not it's legal to , basically , shut down consoles that are not used in the way they were meant to.

Anyway , afaik they didn't bother with PS2 and Microsoft didn't with their Xbox consoles ( other than online backlisting ), so why would they now ?

Yeah well, might be a longshot, but like I said, Sony has raised hell since jailbreak was released. Anyway, no one doing updates offline? Maybe it´s just to download patch, put on USB-stick, boot PS3 in JB mode and install. Will try later, just don´t want to break my saves.

Sure there is, mate! It's clunky though... so you might want to re-think your "no net!" policy. First off, you can visit here;

http://www.ps3news.com/subdomain.php?pagename=psn

There you'll find updates for the vast majority of games. Remember that the PS3 operates incrementally so that you need ALL updates, not just the latest one.

If you can't find what you're looking for there, then he comes the harder - yet more assured - route;

http://nzhawk.mezoka.com/awesomeuf/

This will search Sony's servers DIRECTLY, meaning you WILL find what you need guaranteed, but it has a pretty major annoyance/drawback --- you can't search by name. You can only search by GAMEID. Since you're updating retail games, you want to search in the RETAIL section and not Debug or anything else.

Simply download your selected updates for the correct region, stick 'em on USB stick, and install via "Install Package Files" menu item on your XMB.

Wait a sec, there's a pkg file on the first link which has the Undead Nightmare dlc? It's 1.7 GB.

For me I use Gaia manager, when you select which game it tells you the game I'd top right.

Well i wonder how long it will take for them to find a work around for this. it's not going to be an easy one though as 3.50 games are encrypted with new keys only in the 3.50 firmware.

Is a custom firmware the only option? although i hope they don't hack this until GT5 is shipped or they might delay release again Razz

Things have been quite quiet lately regarding new payloads etc, so hopefully they're working on cracking 3.50 ... that or they're stumped and we wont see any progress for a while.

That was a good feature for Gaia manager. Just one last question in regards to updates - is it only the updates that are "OK" by pjscl that work? Only update online and play, no more steps? That´s great...

The reason some 3.50 games can be played is because they were actually compiled with <3.40 SDKs and then artificially set to only load on 3.50. When games start coming with 3.50 SDK, that's when it's going to be pretty much impossible to play on anything less. If I'm not mistaken, Polyphony Digital and Sony said that GT5 was delayed so they could recompile on 3.50 SDK.

Do you think it is though, after watching that guy playing gt5 did they have time to recompile?

are you sure it's really going to be "pretty much impossible to play on anything less"?

M$ did it on 360,Sony Did it on PSP... it was cracked to work on older FW....

Edit: I've heard Jailbreak for 3.42 and 3.50 is coming and already on testing...

no they didnt have time to recompile. We can play CoD BO because we are using a decrypted exe... So unless we have a debug update for GT5, say bye bye to GT5.

BTW, CoD BO has been compiled with 3.30... Really, it's impossible Sony had the time to bother recompiling with 3.50 GT5, specially since the game is gold now obviously..

EDIT : @JackQ : if there is no 3.50 exploit, it will be impossible yes. And since we dont have LV1 access with this 3.41 exploit, we can't use custom firmwares at all.

I honestly don't know. Given how fast Sony pumped out 3.42 and then 3.50... I'd say it is a very good chance that they have recompiled. That video of the guy playing GT5 could well be a leaked copy, there was no indication that he was playing it Jailbroken. In fact, he could well be the same guy posted in the OTHER vid (they were both Czech) online. You cannot go online, now, on a JB machine.

Nobody is sure of anything, but given Sony's track record of pushing out updates and locking systems.. it's a good bet.

Show me a 360 game that requires NXE and is playable on pre-NXE dashboards. As to the PSP; the encryption is a whole different kettle of fish -- it's like comparing your local Post Office to Fort Knox.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

All their promises have never been backed up with evidence and it's nothing but a constant stream of "coming Sept 15th!, No wait.. Sept 29th! No... sorry, testing, now Oct 11th! Uhh... Oct 21st! Nah, before the end of October! Ahem... November? Sorry!"

If you believe that shit (and considering you're posting it on here as if it's something great you just discovered, then it's a strong bet you DO believe it) then you're just being incredible gullible. The PSJB team have shown no evidence whatsoever that they have ANY control over LV1 ... which means even their latest bullshit about a "downgrader" is false too.

I will stick with the "lets wait and see" approach,and see how "uncrackble" GT5 going to be so far,non of those "uncracbkle" promise as been granted. Laughing{yes,I know 3.42.3.50 didn't been officically been hacked,but I do believei will}
p.s ,PSjailbreak team,DID release their BM manger 1.1 as promises...{at least in time}

I never said it's uncrackable, I simply said if it's using 3.50 SDK it's going to be pretty much impossible to crack. At least until a new method comes out. As for the "they DID release their BM 1.1" -- I'm afraid I have to post this picture*;

The released JACK SHIT. Same Backup Manager as 1.0, only labeled to say 1.1 and incorporating "diskless" play from PSGroove -- and even THAT didn't work. They're a team of thieves and I am absolutely convinced they didn't create the original exploit, they just stole it from someone else. They couldn't even be fucking bothered to release it on time .. they CLAIMED it would be released early September and it only turned up on the 22nd of October. Why did it take so long? So they could steal the PSGroove code and implement it.

Jesus man... just how gullible are you?
