Update 2010-10-01

Oleg:
Quote:
Some early video. Crew animation visible outside of aircraft. Glitches are present! This was recorded some couple of months ago for the test how it looks on the video (not all frames smoothly grabbed by a programm).
Here is two merged scenes. One gunner is moving from bottom to top and then side gunner moved in bottom turret.

No more today.

And when you will ask again please remember, that said yesterday I will look is it possible or not.
I decided - not possible. Sound is one of the main reason. Second reason I see much better on computer and can't record it now...

I always see some comments even when I say some notice that is is not the things that you will see...

So the next videos we will post only when I will say I want it post.

Hope understand-able.

However, this game is just my cup of tea (if its ever released)

Finally, the first Video.

I confess, was expecting something different. It's an art form, to give us the idea that actually we are seeing something when in fact we are not. Oleg must have worked in a KGB deceiveness department. It's the old school. Old habits die hard.

IL2 Storm of war gets it's first public outing at IGROMIR 2010.

Company "1C-Softlab reports that the studio 1C: Maddox Games is developing a computer game" IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Britain ".

Continuation of the famous flight simulator "IL-2 Sturmovik" covers events in the largest air battles of World War II, will run from July 9 to October 30, 1940. During this period, the sky rose a thousand aircraft of the Royal Air Force and squadrons of the Third Reich and Fascist Italy. Now every fan of flight simulators will be able to become the hero of the Battle of Britain, and change the course of a great battle!

The game has been recreated in great detail the huge territory - from London to Normandy from Southampton to Dankerka. Online training allows beginners to quickly master the management of combat aircraft, and flexible settings - to optimize the gameplay depending on skill level user. In addition to the single-player campaign that includes a variety of tasks - from assaults and interception missions to rescue comrades, the game will include multiplayer modes - in one battle can take part up to 128 pilots.

From 3 to 6 November, visitors of the exhibition "IGROMIR - 2010" in Moscow will have a unique opportunity to become a pilot of the legendary aircraft and take part in the Battle of Britain. Everyone will be able to play the sequel of IL-2 on the stands of 1C-Softlab, but also learn more about the project. Presentations will take place on 4, 5 and 6th November at stands C1 and B4."

Why does it seem to run at single digit frames per second while in cockpit? Laughing

Indeed why... Rolling Eyes
One word, lack of optimization. I'd like to know what are the characteristics of that PC.
Now I know why we haven't seen much ingame videos.

Thanks Shado2k.

@Roger_Young But usually it is the other way around... Laughing Usually the aircraft models are so complex that when in an outside view, it lags a lot more than in cockpit view.

I imagine now, the fanboys saying that the lag is from the camera.

The computer specs: I5-760 , 2GB ram, GTX 460.
They are saying it's the unoptimized code, running with graphics maxed, and 2 GB of memory are the reason for the stuttering.

Leo, the last one shows lag everywhere.

It does look very well done indeed, let's hope that they'll fix the annoying lag (yes, I've got only 2GB of memory) Neutral

But of course! The camera's movement is smooth, but when it captures the monitor it suddenly switches to a 12.5 framerate mode. Laughing

To me this video seems sped up:

Notice the lack of smoothness in some of the buildings and scenery (moving slow then suddenly faster then slower again).

a little yes, wonder if its debug mode, that has the ability to create exactly that look and feel in the game with the jittering speed thing.

Not sure what u meant by the town buildings and the scenery speed up then slow down? do you mean in the end when hes passing over it etc?

Thats perfectly normal natural feeling when flying btw the dipped wing and lowering alt give the speed increase and illusion then as you correct things seem to slow up again.. Thats a god honest truth as well, the last flyover seemed accurate to me and im glad its not at its time a complete steaming pile of shit Very Happy

Well, what's in a name, quite a lot actually, by changing the name it makes it look like another expansion to the IL-2 series when in fact it's a completely new engine/game.

Semantics aside, 1C have chosen Ubisoft to be the publishers of this title, not a popular choice for us minions, but that's business, as for DRM, apparently it's a one time online activation upon install, again we will see, i just thought I would update this thread with the latest happenings to this title.

My pre order for Storm of War was cancelled by Play.com yesterday saying it was no longer available which sort of confirms the name change etc.
Somebody apparently leaked footage of the collectors edition, this is yet to be proven fake or real, I guess we will find out when Oleg makes his announcement next week.

Take this image with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Why did they change the name?
Ubisoft?!
Hmmm. If they use the last draconian DRM, this time I won't buy.

Thanks Shado2k.

Ubisoft was most definitely "chosen" because of the IL-2 name rights, which they hold. They've got to milk the IL-2 franchise as much as possible, because as you know, in today's world, it is all about franchises, and bringing a risk that corporate retards will not tolerate. Rolling Eyes
It will probably use the same shit activation that all Russian titles use (I think it's a Starfarce variant). So it's not Ubi DRM, but comparable shit.

It makes sense. That must be the reason.

I'll just be extremely thankful to have the content.

I could care less about the DRM scheme. Hopefully it's robust and completely protects the content.

These DRM posts are so old and archaic. No one of any significance listens to them.

We all need the content protected as much as possible. From my perpective as a user - it's in my own best interest to keep the development dollars going to the creator and to keep the simulation intact from tampering.

S!

Gunny

^^ Ill have to agree here, Il2 turned into a cheat fest after a few years to obscene levels, you really do need fair playing field in a combat flight sim ( fair playing sky? ) lol..

either way the main thing will be if any drm fucks up gameplay, its that what is the only concern and should be for everyone, not if it has drm.. Again unless your a cheap skate and woudlnt want to support a great title that there is so few of Very Happy

This is a flight simulation not some crappy first person shooter in the sky like Hawx and others.Totally different genre here and not for the faint of heart. The graphics are impressive to the flight sim crowd because they are much improved over IL-2.For those that have no clue,Storm of war is its successor.
