You need to research everything from the tanks research tree to get elite status. Kinda sucks though for bigger tanks since you need to research also the next tank in the tree. I'm in my Tiger 2 with all parts researched but need to research the Ausf B too before I get elite status. When you get it you see a popup notification about your new elite status as this happened for me on my Leopard.

I had to dump my laptop, so I thought I'd reinstall this. I need to find my key.

It's still "closed beta". Closed my ass, you can get keys from eurogamer.it (check previous 3-4 pages)
The game rocks. There's a patch coming next week, will probabaly add the US faction.

I've got a key. I played it for a couple months before but my laptop started having issues. got a sweet new machine so maybe I'll reinstall then.

It won't, unfortunately. The patch next week is 0.5.5. US tanks will be added in 0.6.

Accounts only get a softwipe with the next big patch, you wont loose ANYTHING with the softwipe, in fact you gain more because they give you an equal amount of money/xp for your tanks/crew.

I find it good. The gun isn't that much powerful, and the 250mm armor isn't that much, pretty much anything from IS and up can penetrate it. Still I've destroyed many tanks, and stopped whole bunch of tanks just with my presence, which is really funny. Seeing 2x IS3, 1xIS4, 2xTiger and some KVs all hide behind a cliff, all because you're on the other side..

That's the thing though... In reality, it had the heaviest armor and one of the heaviest guns ever mounted on a mobile combat vehicle. It would be nice if that actually reflected in the game. The russians didn't even have a single tank capable of penetrating its frontal armor, AFAIK. Where as in this game I've even had 85mm guns penetrate it. :/

That's because only the front superstructure armor is 250mm thick, the hull has only 150mm (just like KT). Not to mention that sides and rear is only 80mm.

No, the whole upper frontal hull is 250mm, not just the casement. The lower hull (below the point where the hull is shaped like <) is 150mm thick. There's a reason the JagdTiger was the heaviest vehicle of the war.

You are indeed correct. Not sure where I got the 250mm glacis plate from, think someone on the WoT forums said that.
My apologies.
Anyways, that just further shows how useless the JagdTiger is in the game.
