Hi all,
My PS2 is very unstable. The games tends to freeze + sound loop during movies or when loading new areas. For example, in FF10, the game would randomly freeze in FMV or loadings, but not always, sometimes it works fine. The same problems happens to other games also, but mostly on movie intensive games such as FF10. The same problem also happens on newly bought games too. I don't know what mod chip my PS2 have, but I bought and mod it two years ago.

Can someone tell me what might be wrong with my PS2, could this be a laser problem, and how can I fix it, a link with step by step pics would be helpful.

I will come back with my bios version if you guys need it.

yea what Version PS2 is it??? FF10 is a like push PS2 to the limits type game isnt it??? and some of the Old PS2's like the V1, V2, V3 etc etc dont like getting pushed to the limits now after about 4 years of use Smile

if you're playing backups you should try to burn them at 2X.

If you're playing originals... maybe a new laser is in order.

The back of my PS2 says "Model No. SCPH-39001" according to somee faqs I found on the net, it should be V7 , am I right ?

Console: SCPH-39001
Browser: 1.20
CD Player: 1.20 Playstation Driver: 1.10
DVD Player: 2.12U

I've now tried the game with HD Loader , same problem but now the sound doesn't loop, it keeps playing...the game still freezes tho.
