If Steam keys for Black Ops are universal (ie not region locked) (I don't know if they are) then you should be able to buy a key in Poland and activete it on Steam and get the english version (if that's what you want).

What is the cheapest place for a key? I don't want Russian keys (Well, if they are multilanguage), since I don't want Russian and Bulgarian or something like that only and use some horrible tricks to get it into English.

As far as I can see, the best online deal for Black Ops right now, is to buy it from Direct2drive and use the 25% discount code.

Why?

1. It's completely legit (I'm not gonna risk my Steam account because I wanted to save a few bucks).

2. It's available worldwide (Except for Germany).

3. It's a bit cheaper than the standard US price, which is lower than the Standard EU price (It was for me, despite the fact that I live in one of the most Tax heavy countries in the world).

Bottomline. I got this game for less than the normal AAA game price

Not for UK folk it isn't. Tesco Entertainment @ £29.99 is still cheaper, and you get to retain the dvd and have a hard copy.

That said, I see you're not in UK Smile

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk for with the price of £29.99 including shipping.

For now it is the cheapest pre-order price for non-US residents (or UK supermarkets).

With Direct2Drive you get a download link to a zip file containing the files and folders from a DvD. You unzip it, and run the installer while your Steam client is open, and then you use your activation key that you get from D2D and voila! The game is now installing and registered to your Steam account. And then you have the right to redownload the game from Steam and D2D as much as your want (And that is why I don't get how D2D can make money on these deals).

Anyway, the D2D deal works, I have made exactly the same deal some months ago when I purchased Metro2033 on D2D (with an added discount). And D2D is a 100% legal store.

Ps. You will have to check your D2D profile on Tuesday to get your key (it will be available from 7. am Pst/4. pm Gmt+1

Pps. I downloaded Black Ops yesterday from D2D, it's a 7.38Gb zip file.

Can't you just use the key you get from D2D to activate it on Steam in the first place ? And download it from there ?

Very perceptive of you Wink And that is why I said what I said in point 3 of comment.

In short, everything in my Country is pretty expensive so when I can get the US standard price (or even a bit lower than that) I'm happy.

I actually thought that the days of good deals were over.

1. I used to be able to save some money by buying stuff from the UK, but now I'll just get slapped with Taxes and VAT and strange Customs Fees despite the fact that the UK and my country are both part of the EU.

2. I can forget about Play.com and sendit since they are strangely enough NOT in the EU despite their geographical locations, so dealing with those guys will cost me just as much as buying something from the US, which is even more expensive than shopping in the UK. Mad Mad Mad

Yes, I'm very happy to be part of the EU, especially since I really feel the benefits of free trading /End of Sarcasm Rolling Eyes

Yes and no. Smile I did it with Metro2033, but since the Black Ops key isn't available yet, I thought I just downloaded the files from D2D, so I won't have to download on Tuesday when Steam is going into a meltdown because of all the Black Ops players.

If you buy it at D2D I guess you will be able to play it back in Sweden since D2D clearly states that the game can be purchased worldwide, with Germany as the only exception.

And you figure this... how exactly? They are dedicated servers. Just because one isn't in your backwater country doesn't mean it's not a dedicated server Razz
