never played the multiplayer part but i dont think its so much better then other shooters.
isnt it like battlefield just without vehicles?

CoD (or Modern Warfare if you prefer) succeeds because it's simple in comparison to the competition. Just like Counter Strike, another massive success with absolutely no redeeming values. People love stuff they can just pick up and play with little to no learning curve.
I'll give them that the campaign is entertaining, but lets be honest now, Battlefield (even in its current castrated state) beats the shit out of CoD in every respect multiplayer wise. All they've been doing is re-skinning and changing time periods, cause let's face it, it doesn't pay to evolve anymore when you can simply repackage the same stuff to the drooling masses.

Battlefield has been shit since Battlefield 2 .. and that steaming pile of rat faeces called Bad Company 2 (and indeed any MP title on the Frostbite engine) is laughable in comparison. No, if we're talking recent comparisons; Battlefield is a dead franchise compared to Call of Duty. Battlefield 1942 (+ expansions) on the other hand? ROCKS as hard as CS does =)
