Nah, not compared to SoC. I also don't like linear levels, it takes away almost all atmosphere imo.

That's a bit too far fetched. Both Stalker and Metro universes are special and share similarities. But each game is unique in it's own way.

Metro is more of a personal and inside story, while Stalker has a wonderfully crafted universe, with a symbolic powerful character ("npc") that is somehow always central - the Chernobyl NPP.

Rolling Eyes

You can't really compare those games since they aren't trying to do the same thing. Metro 2033 is a straight linear FPS where Stalker is an open-world shooter with RPG elements. And I loved the atmosphere in SoC. Metro 2033 had a tight and apprehensive atmosphere but subjectively I'd take SoC/CS/CoP over Metro 2033 any day.

Call of Pripyat: Redux. I'd say that's the best mod right now.

Metro had great atmosphere, but I'd still say it gets beaten by Stalker even in that regard. Close call, but though Metro's graphics are somewhat better Stalker made up for it with more creepy 'stuff'. Exploring the labs in the Stalker games is epic. The soundtrack is also superb in all the games.

CoP was too short though. I loved what they'd done to the game mechanics and such, and the surprising lack of bugs, but they definitely sacrificed some ambition to do it. They also could have used some more indoor areas; with that engine's terrific lighting capabilities, it's a waste to just use it on outdoors areas. Maybe they could have fleshed out Pripyat with some more underground locations and whatnot. I loved the city, or perhaps it was just the music, but there wasn't a whole lot to do there.

If I loved the atmosphere of Metro 2033 and enjoyed the overall concept of Fallout 3 but disliked that the shooting didn't feel like shooting, is this the perfect game for me?

If you liked Metro and Fallout then you should definately try the STALKER series. Just be warned that those games are a bit buggy, but then again Fallout 3 also was.

Well, as it was established in the past few days, these games certeanly do NOT lack atmosphere. Smile

As for the shooting part, I never had any problem with it here. You press a button and bullets come out of the hole at the end of the gun. If you point it at somebody while doing this, he will most likely fall over eventually.

But seriously, unlike FO3, weapons here have kickback, so you cannot just rev up a minigun and mow everyone down. This is the game for short, controlled bursts, or even single, well aimed shots to actually be effective.

The mod is being tested and prepared for release. This will be the best Complete mod to date.

I guess it's time to install CoP again. Smile

i dont really understand why you guys are stoked about cop complete, the gfx in cop where already pretty decent, with atmosphere mod. It needs gameplay changes and new features for me to keep playing it ( free roam, new artefacts, better ai, new events n things to do)

does complete offer this for cop or is it again just gfx ?

Take a look at the changelog of both Stalker complete and Clear Sky Complete and you'll see that there are much more changes than updated textures and effects.

It looks fantastic, but just for the sake of seeing the cozy and pleasant graphical improvements and not any gameplay or story addition, I think I'll pass.
