This game looks really really good on xbox..they are using every bit of power xbox has ..to run this ...though SplinterCell Chaos Theory still looks a bit better...i just dont know how they made SCCT look so damn good on 4 year old xbox hardware....must make some pc yuppies quite pissed off after spending 5-6 bills for a videocard when there are only maybe 3 games in total that require a top of the line videocard ...there are probally only 3 games in totally on the pc that impress me visually...hf2,doom3,farcry..nothing else lol
To all the dumb schmucks that say Doom3 on xbox looks terrible..are either a pc fan boy or blind as ray charles, that or just have no life and want to stirr up trouble on a message board lol. hehe
I have a athlon64@2.6ghz,1gb 3200 corsair ram,aiw ati 9800pro,21viewsonic g220fb monitor and believe me..i played farcry,doom3,hf2,etc on the pc at full settings or very close to it and Doom3 on xbox looks pretty damn good compared to doom3 pc....thats SAYING ALOT about xbox hardware and how it was built.
Conosles are just better gaming platforms..how many AAA quality action games came out on the pc in 04 compared to consoles? its not even close....

Umm... how do you figure only THOSE 3 games look good on the PC? Thats a bit of bullshit, but hey its your opinion. Farcry wasnt that impressive... it was the water particles and water itself. More than 3 require a top of the line card.

Hey, thats a bit dumb... considering Ray Charles could do things he couldnt see. You however cant comprehend a sentance  And you can ask Pal, I'm one of the only ones on here who isnt a fan boy. It takes a fanboy to constantly stick up for the XBox, especially when it comes to a graphically intense game as Doom 3. Most of my posts are IN the Console forums. Seeing as thats true, how would that make me a PC Fanboy? I'm just stating the obvious. This was talked about since a bit after Doom 3 was released. In fact, when the first screens and video caps of the XBox vers (in its final state) were released, people in the XBox forum where bitching. Yet everyone now is praising it, if thats not fanboyism, I dont know what is. Considering the XBox is a computer and has been out for awhile now, its not capable of the video card power a PC is. They did tone it down... and in my opinion it just doesnt look as good as it does for the PC.
Hey flame all you want... doesnt matter how many people come in here. The truths the truth. Than why would SC look better than Doom 3? You said it yourself... they were "pushing the power of the XBox to its fullest extent".

What does farcry,doom3, and hl2 have to do with Doom 3? Umm... FarCry doesnt look as good as Doom 3. So a toned down Doom 3 for the XBox which uses a XChip "built" by NVidia beats the latest hardware that was even used last year? Thats when this game was released for the PC. I'm not ratting on it either, I just think its a shitty port. I also thought the Counter Strike game for XBox was crappy to. When I think somethings terrible I tell about it. I like XBox games as much as the next person, but how about using your head? All your trying to do is make me come on the defense here.

Oh yea? And how many quality RPGs come out on the XBox? None. Pure fanboyism. Wow, this kid actually has the guts to talk about genres. See you say that above statement like as if its a fact... that is fanboyism. Me saying the PC version looks better graphically isnt. Its not only a fact, but its the truth.
Yay, I just got done defending the XBox in the SC III thread... you really know what your talking about?

well after playing this on xbox a little more, i actually prefer the xbox version, and my pc was upto the task as in sig, afterall nice graphics don't always make a game so the drop on this to suit the xbox hasn't stopped my enjoyment of the game plus i get to play on 32" widescreen tv in 480i mode and lounge on the sofa.
and consoles are better gaming systems because they are a fixed platform for devolpers to get the most out of and aimed at armchair mainstream gamers.

Normally I do not play FPS on the xbox console, cos I hate the controls. However i got this mostly for the co-op mode. after testing the single player i was impressed with it, it runs better on the xbox than on MY pc. Good game, i am gonna enjoy this one, me thinks. Nice release to say the most recent releases have sucked or being below par.

is it retail or preview? all levels in co-op are open and extra ud n doom2 too.
i'm with rest on this game owning on xbox and it plays better on it than my tin can p4 2.4gh n g4 4600.

Looks good to me, and plays better (gameplay wise) then the PC version.. the pace is a lot faster 
I liked the Pc version, But I really enjoy the xbox one.

why do you come to this conclusion, please tell, because remember we are talking about a game that actually plays just as good if not better than a pc with the same spec when you take into the actual xbox specs, so how can it be any worse port wise.
I admit its never gonna look as nice as a high powered PC, but thats not the point is it?, no-one here has said its better than that, just most have said it runs better than their pc's they currently own.
I thing IMHO they done a cracking job, yes they removed certain things, but this hasn't hindered the game in any way and infact has improved and made it even more action packed.
I don't think any non pc owner whjo hasn't had a chance to play this will say "a terrible port to xbox"
because it isn't!, there is plenty worse that claim to be good and Doom3 on xbox isn't one of them

It's not such a great idea saying you've only seen screen shots.
I've got both the PC version running on a 3.2 Gig P4 and ATI PCI Express X800 graphics card, displaying on a 19 inch CRT tube, and on the Xbox.
So apart from lower resolution and natural anti-aliasing through PAL TV the game looks pretty good, and runs at a solid frame rate.
Much more important it plays a lot better. Put it this way they seem to have been busy in the last six months tweeking and really improving the gameplay and level design, and it really shows. Also the Controller feels more natural and tactile compared to using a mouse.
Hat's of to the team that ported this. It's making me play over again!

Xbox uses X/Y and Z for Cache
Anyways as he said I would lcear the X/Y and Z partition on the xbox, then i would delete the Doom 3 Save (if its made one)
Then try again with the DVD-RW.
Keep in mind that it could take it longer to load via the DVD-RW, and depending on the quality of your xbox dvd-drive.
Doom 3 caches a hell of a lot on the initial load (and then loads after once cache has gone) and with a RW it could take longer...
Try DVd-Decrypter (as said) I have never had a problem with that,
Or just put it on the hard disk :Y

I created a couple of "coasters" until I converted the iso thru Qwix. The Qwix optimized iso worked like a charm. This may help those that are still running into problems.

Expect a Doom3:GOTY edition or something. Either that or they'll re-release it in all its full graphical splendor on the X2.

Thanks for the info's guys...just dumb they didnt include it since the game on Xbox was delayed for 6 months. Hope the MP on Xbox will bring more people online cause its pretty dead on PC....by the way how many people can play together on the MP on Xbox cause if i recall, the PC version was like 4 players when the game was released

Wrong, the PC version had like 12 for online play. Theres also a coop mod you can download. The reason why Doom 3 isnt that big MP is because it wasnt people's type. Their more into Battlefield and UT type games. I honestly have to say death match gets boring after awhile, unless its like Ravenshield or the R6 series. Thats always fun. Also, there wasnt much involved on the MP features in Doom 3. I guess it was a turnoff for most people. I loved the single player of Doom 3... and I think if they added coop for the PC version with the game, it would of held its own online for quite awhile. Now that the coop is finally out for the PC (thanks to the Doom 3 modders), its kinda late to get people back to playing it.
Hopefully with the release of Resurection of Evil, people will become interested in it again.
