it works well, but you cannot burn as you would need a original copy to load your burned copy..lol, if you know anyone with a chipped ps2 or with swapmagic you can load the cogswap exploit on your memory card (this works well too) and you can easily make a swipe card from a store/credit.

backups as in ones you ripped yourself or downloaded from the net .. same thing
i meant you can't use a burned copy of swap magic to load downloaded games it has to be a pressed original of swap magic..... quote "also would it be possible to download and burn swap magic".. answer, no
hope i'm not confusing you more
I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

i'll try.. you load a small program on your memory card by swap magic or other means (usb mem sticks.. i think). These programs (cogswap/hdd loader ect) are triggered by running a PS1 original on your PS2 (the exploit), these programs must be created with the sces/scus number of that particular PS1 game you are going to use (its written on the front of the disc)... once you have cogswap running you can load backup/copied games on your PS2... note this does not work on the new slim line ps2.
see http://www.exploitstation.com/ for tutorials.. explantions.. needed files and forums with people who actually know what they are talking about
i only know a very small part of it from when i loaded the cogswap exploit on my nephews ps2 so he could play backups

Thanks, i'm reading http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/exploit%20inst.php but i'm a little confused. Quote: | The disc id is the number on the front of your disc and the spine of the case, it will be something like sles_03286, but when you create your title.db using titleman frontend you have to put a point after the third number i.e. sles_032.86, so whatever your id number is the numbers after the sles_ will always be in the format “xxx.xx” where the x’ are your id numbers. | do they mean the disc i'm going to burn on? Also the last part of the tut confuses me :S

no they mean the PS1 original disc you are going to use as a trigger to run the exploit
question how are you going to get the exploit on your mem card in the first place ?

Are there any types of backups that Swap Magic can't play? Also, does it work with all versions and types of the PS2, even the newest one?

u cant use swap magic just on its own to play backups, you need a slide card or a slim tool if u got a slim line ps2. it woorks with all models and works with all the games as long as there is a patch for the ones that have a bit of problems in terms of loading etc.

jeeze just buy the damn thing. its the best non mod chip solution available.
the easiest would be if u have the old ps2 model( black or silver) and get free tool/slide card when u buy the swap discs.
i have one of the oldest models... think it was 3 and it works like a charm.

yes they've come up with a solution for swap magic to work on the slimline model...
try running a search for slim kit pro.
otherwise get it chipped =)

Swap Magic 3.3 and higher work with the new Slimline version, i've got it running too. You don't even need the SwapCard for the slimline version, you can easely put little bit's of tape on the little switchen that sence that your tray is open.
The problem with SwapMagic is that not every game work properly, so for a few games there are fixes made, but i don't like using them.
They require that you burn a fix program, and a diffirent fix for every game, so i'ts a lot of work for playing a game...
SwapDisc in the playstation, swap with fixprogram, swap with gamefix, swap with game, that's a whola lotta swaps...
But if your cashflow is low, it's a very good alternative to the pricy modchip's for the slimline version!

I have a slimline ps2 now, but I wanna play "backups" but don't really want to go for chips because I can't place them and they ask way too much money to place them for you and my ps2 is still in warranty so I don't want to lose them.
I had for my psx a thing I had to put in the back of my psx and something to hold on to the button so that the psx would think my psx is closed and use a original cd and then a backup.
Does this swapmagic do the same? and what can I use then to let my ps2 think it's closed?
