@ Neon/Sabin: That's one of the few points where it does look good. Other than that though, the textures used on buildings, ground and pretty much everything just look terrible. To take the cave as an example, as you're going through it the shadows are entirely static; more often than not they actually didn't fit with the light from my flashlight at all. I'll fire it up again tomorrow and load that mission to show you what I mean. What you mentioned is not model related btw, but that's a proper texture; if you compare Reznov in other cutscenes or missions to that scene they're not nearly as detailed
No stuttering at all for me though, so that was positive at least. Just too many glitches, scripted sequences and failing AI for me

Finally finished it on veteran, having spent 16 or so hours at it . I want moar! I love games that are an actual challenge, even tho I probably made everyone in the apartment hate me due to how I raged when someone even glanced at me while I played
Also, GFX was indeed mediocre, so was the game. The only thing that kept me playing was the story. And the zombie survival at the end was fun too(Kennedy's "But I WANT this!").

I have to say the latest patch really improved the performance for me. The annoying pauses are completely gone, and the game just feels smoother, but not perfect. But at least it gives me hope that they will resolve it sooner or later.
Now if only they would fix the freaking spawn points. It is very surprising how bad they, considering they had exact same problem in WAW with everyone complaining about them. One second I would be all tactical thinking I am going to sneak up on the enemy only to find that I am now heading into my ally's spawn zone. Or completely mind boggling enemy spawns right behind you, or in the line of fire (yes those are definitely my favorite).

This game brings scripted and dumbed down shooting to a whole other level.
I'm used to scripted events happening in the middle of a level, but unexplained changes in inventory? I'll be carrying a particular loadout, then a forced first-person cutscene will happen, and my character magically has a whole other set of guns afterwards. They're not even necessarily better ones either. I guess the developers knew how linear and non-backtrackable their game was, so they had to ensure that players were able to survive the next series of scripted sequences. God forbid the gamer have to try to survive based on their own decisions.
How to survive a CoD campaign: do not bother remembering what you did before, do not bother even remotely thinking ahead. Just shoot shoot shoot and use the countless cutscenes and scripted sequences to rest your trigger finger.

Neon wrote: | To be honest, I thought the single player campaign was the best out of all CoDs. No, really. I don't get the whining about the graphics, it looks a lot better than MW2, especially the models- for instance the mission where Reznov (it's not a spoiler, you meet him on the first mission) talks to you in the cave. You can see the sweat on his face and all that. The gore is a nice touch. |
Is this your second CoD after MW2?

Will copy, pasting the updated(patched) files from a Steam game do the trick?
How do you think Skidrow release the patches?
EDIT: Ok, I get it. The encrypted exe has to be cracked as well.

About spawn points: Is this the way it's designed? Or is it clearly bugged?
I'm asking because this is my first COD multiplayer experience, and the spawning system seems completely fucked. I mean, what happened to each team having spawn points at the far ends of the map. So far I have played HQ mode, TDM and CTF, and it's complete chaos...

Every CoD game has always been like this. You get used to it. I won't lie though, it is frustrating at times because you can just get plain unlucky.

I'll look for the server later when I'm home and able to play. Not sure if I can see it from the US? Or is it worldwide?
