Nano machines will make "immortality" actually possible in the future. Primitive types of such tiny machines are already being used in laboratories. Eventually machines could be as tiny as the human cell. The nano machines can simply be injected into the bloodstream and they'll repair damaged cells in the body. And this is what what will stop the aging process. Aging is the result of cells being damaged (as far as I know.)
You won't be truly immortal of course. You could still die of some disease or murder. But the aging process can be stopped in principle. In fact, this process is even found in nature in a few organisms. Such as the immortal jellyfish: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turritopsis_nutricula
