You want the project? It's for C4D.

I'm terrible at texturing too, but I try to create good materials Smile

The only shader I use frequently is the Fresnel shader.

The whole car's black paint is the same material. It's reflection is a fresnel shader, that increases the reflectiveness of the paint, the flatter the camera angel is. If you look top down on the paint, you'll just see a minimal reflection. And it's pure black.

I can still upload the C4D (11.5) project Smile The only textures that I used are blueprints for the car, and they are included...

He probably means this one by DT:

http://www.digitaltutors.com/09/training.php?cid=3&pid=3606

Digitaltutors does some real nice videos, but some of them are painfully slow and tend to detail monotonous activities like crazy, but would do good to give you a guide.

Yup, the Digital Tutors is correct. Good tutorial which explains things and tools quite well. I started it several times but never could bring myself to finish the damn thing. Smile

Think i'm gonna start one of these DT intermediate level ones regarding vehicles..moves along a bit faster and is a lambo type model. Looks like a good challenge with all the curvature on those cars.

Looks very nice, you did it with rendering of ray-tracing? Don't mind me if that sounds stupid I never got into stuff like this.

It took me a total of maybe 10 hours to get this far... Those guys at polyphony digital must be real professionals and thus I assume that they could make a premium car in 10 hours including modeling(in a much higher quality with cleaner result), texturing, inner and outer details.

So lets say they have 20 guys modeling and texturing. In less than 3 months they could actually create 800 cars and add 3 more months for sound engineering and detail work.

And even if it should take them twice the time to create a good looking model, it would've been 1 year in total.

I think alot of it is just workflow as they get better and better. I know that Alex Alverez and alot of the gnomon guys use baseline setups alot. So you could probably set up the curves for a default car and tweak it to get started alot faster once you know enough about car design to be able to predict the most logical locations for your curves.

that was my point, if someone like u, no offence, can create some great looking car model, pretty sure ppl who have millions at their disposal can create thousand of cars in a year of time, let alone 5 years

and they say i'm trolling in gt5 thread, to me gt5 is biggest rip off in gaming history and ppl say omg iz so gud Embarassed
this shit shouldn't even passed beta testing let alone QA before fixing those crappy models in to proper once, guess if u have lotz ov mani u can buy everything, even fanboiz Smug

Well you create a 3D model out of simple points and then by selecting a group of dots (mostly 3 or 4, thus creating a triangle or quad) you create a small surface. Then you create more and more of that surface until a part of the car is finished (for example the hood).

Then you create a material and apply it to that surface, add a camera to the room and a light source. Now you select render and I suppose that the renderer of C4D is a raytracer Smile

Keep getting fucking Dents in this car, deviating the tutorial a good bit and my poly count is going way higher than i'd like so keep pushing dents into it with new edge loops lol.. Gonna add the headlights and should be about done with the quarterpanel modelling except some cavities

Screw it...leaving the dents and taking the bitch into Zbrush for a light smoothing before i render.
