sorry to ask but i have some itunes hd episodes of the early seasons
of nip/tuck that are not available on blu-ray or tv hd rips. Is there way to
help me break these out of the drm and maintain the original video and audio
streams? And put them in the mkv container? Thanks a lot for the help in
advance!

This will only work if you bought them, not rented.

You will use Requiem for cracking the protection: https://tag3ulp55xczs3pn.tor2web.org/cgi-bin/ssi/index.shtml
You will also need JRE (Java Runtime Edition) for Requiem.

You will have to buy with the latest version of iTunes, but in order to crack the protection, you will need to use whatever last version is supported by Requiem. Currently, the latest Requiem only supports 10.0. It's a cat and mouse game really.
Download it from here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_itunes_32/
Best is to run the required iTunes version in a virtual machine (such as VMWare Player, Workstation, VirtualBox, Windows 7 XP Mode, etc.) and disable updates in the options.

In iTunes, under Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced you will find the iTunes Music Folder location. This is where your videos are on disk.
Run the Requiem.jar file, click the green + icon select the file you want to decrypt and click the 'lock' icon. Now just wait (and do nothing else!!!) for the "Decryption complete" message. You have an unencrypted MP4 file in the encrypted one's stead. You can then use that file to drag and drom into mmg.exe from MKVToolnix (download here: http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/downloads.html) and mux into MKV.

Cheers. Smile

You can always use Tunebite. But only if you're already able to play the files.
