Was just playing this and I have to say, this is SO much better than the regular BC2...

It actually feels fluid when I play and hits are registered as they should. :O

I see it as the other way around, I find the BFBC2 regular better feel to play than vietnam, to me vietnam is nice but it feels too simple, its just fluff really ontop of regular. Also im seeing now and again popping of those texture lod updates that were mentioned as well, hope they fix that.

still its a shooter it works its fun..

Honestly, I haven't had that much problems with snipers so far. I just love the M16 and how I'm actually able to hit shit with it unlike every god damn weapon in regular BC2, which is what I don't understand why's that happening since I haven't changed anything at all in the game.

Snipers really need to be taken out of this game on certain maps.
They just spawn camp all the time.

The reason you can hit stuff in Vietnam and not BC2 is simply because weapons have next to no recoil in Vietnam.

In BC2, if you fire any more than a 2-3 shot burst, the recoil/spread is bad enough to throw your aim and not make it worth doing.

In Vietnam, you can easily fire 6-8 shots out of the assault rifles (be it AK, or M16, doesn't matter) and still be on target without having to adjust your aim at all on a stationary target.

I'm baffled as to why DICE decided this was a good idea (maybe due to the fact that we have no optics?). Can't say I agree with the decision though...makes it feel far too much like CoD! Sad

I play medal of honor a lot lately, and the new weapons in vietnam feel like moh´s. The m40 in vietnam is almost identical to the m24 in moh and the ak47/m16/m14 are not far from any weapon from assault or special ops class in moh.

Nope, has nothing to do with recoil since I always burst... 3 shots then I let it "cool down" a second and then I go again. So that has nothing to do with that, hell...even when I was using the G3 where I shot 1-2 bullets at a time I still couldn't hit shit, here I hit with basically everything, even the smg's hit at mid to long range. The snipers, well, they hit almost anything spot on (with the bulletdrop ofc).

Ohh and by the way, I'm talking from my point of view here...

PostPosted: Sun, 26th Dec 2010 15:57    Post subject: Im still playing battlefield 2 even that i have bfbc2:
I dont know how everyone can play bfbc2.
At least i cant play it since the pings wont let me.
In battlefield 2 im getting from europe about 78-90ms pings and maybe sometime its jumping to 100-110. Above that i cant almost play since its making lags and problems.

In bfbc2 the pigs ao hight i cant play in servers from europe at all.
So for 100% the problem is in the game in bfbc2 since in bf2 im getting great pings.
So untill ea or is it dice? will not fix/make new patch for the pings problems i cant play it.

Im in Israel and in battlefield 2 in israeli servers im getting 10ms even less!!!
In bfbc2 israeli servers im getting 100+ sometimes 200.

How ppl here can play the game?

The pings shown ingame are calculated differently and they're not the same as the server browser ones. If you only take into account the ping next to the server name in the server broweser you'll find out the real value calculated the traditional way.

I broke down too Smile
Pretty soon we may need an official hump server.

About the game: Anyone feel that alot of the battle noises (as awesome as they are) seem to be more to add to the ambiance and not as useful to tell where the actual action is? I haven't played long enough to determine for myself, yet. I think a quiet jungle once in awhile would add to the tension. Don't get me wrong the sounds are VERY intense.

I'm interested in getting BC 2 since it's on sale , is it worth it ?
It's not about the money , but considering that i'll die out once BF 3 will be out , i'm skeptical about making pointless purchases.

Not worth it anymore.

I think that for ~13€ it's rather worth it, well it depends on personal tastes though Razz

I'm considering buying it, but I'm worried about my computer handling the MP. How is the framerate in MP in compaison to SP ? If I have decent enough (for me) FPS in SP will it be the same/lower/higher in MP ?

Also, has BFBC3 been anounced yet ? If so, what is the release date ?

The average framerate in MP is noticeably lower than the one that you have in SP, especially in bigger maps with 32 players. I for myself (e6600@3Ghz,4870) have a framerate of ~35-40fps during multiplayer matches on medium-high settings, while in the single player campaign it's often >60fps. Wink

MP is more demanding indeed. For me it seems mostly at the cost of the CPU. I had the same frame rates: 60+ in SP and hovering around 40 in MP. Once I switched to Quad Core though, FPS went over 60, closer to 70.

Of course, this won't help much if you are GPU limited as well Smile

I keep hearing that excuse over and over again... I don't give a shit what the pings are in a game as long as the gameplay feels fluid and bullets hit where they're supposed, two things that don't happen in BFBC2.

For example pings over 400 in games like L4D2 and TF2 feel much better gameplay wise than let's say having a ping of 200 in BFBC2. I don't understand why the heck they haven't fixed the framerate and lag issues yet...

They're gonna anounce BF3 soon and this game still runs like a piece of shit. I personally call it bad coding. Also people claiming that the destructible environment takes a heavy toll on servers are full of shit since all the destruction is pretty much prerendered because firing a projectile from any angle causes the same fixed damage. I'm not saying it's a bad thing since it should save on processing power but the bad networking coding kills a game that would beat the shit out of the Call of Duty series. And thats sad...

It's actually possible that it's the small scale destruction that is causing the heavier loads. Since the server needs to keep track of every small bit of wood/concrete that has been chipped off the walls by any player and notify every client of those changes. Not really familiar with the inner workings of the net code though, so I could be wrong Smile

In any case, I didn't have any significant problems with hit detection last time I played (although that was over a week ago). Even less so in Vietnam.
