Quote:

Combat Mission - Battle for Normandy (CM:BN) faithfully recreates the experience of tactical land warfare in Western France during World War Two. Using the unique Turn-Based (WeGo)/Real-Time hybrid game system of our proprietary CMx2 battle engine, the first installment in this new series covers the three months after the Allied D-Day landings in Normandy in June 1944, from Operation Overlord in June through the Cobra Breakout in August.

At the player's fingertips are a large array of carefully researched US and German Army formations, equipment, and vehicles in what is probably the most versatile, genuine and powerful battlefield simulation to date.

I really hope they go for the old CM games but with shockforce engine. From what i've read - they seem to go back to that rather than stick to the new shit.
What made Combat Mission great was all the details on the units - something that was removed with shockforce since many of the american units are classified information.

What I heard years ago was that Shock Force engine would be used for the WW2 games that would come out after it.

I hope they will work a bit more on the infantry movement and so on, cos it didnt really look that good in Shock Force

Their forum has the worst people ever. Very bad attitude both from moderators/developers and their beta testers. Agressive and not at all friendly Sad

The game has not been shipped yet. And yeah, the gfx arent important when it comes to CM games..however, the studio has been going downhill since Shockforce. I still cant belive the fact that they ditched WeGo from MP in this game...

You really should give CMBB a go. Best game ever made imo.

I agree. The mechanics in the old one was supperior to Shockforce. However, the guy making the games seem only able to listen to the betatesters (which imo are idiots) rather than the fanbase.

I do want this game - however, I still hesitate because of how battlefront treat their customers.

...and where the hell are Matrixgames with their patch for Kharkov? (a.k.a Ostfront)

I would, but ive only played it like 5 minutes. Gonna do a deep scan of it tonight. I must, since imo Combat Mission is the best game ever made (exlude shockforce ofc).
But tbh it felt better than I expected from those 5 minutes

Havent had a chance to play it yet - however, i thought I'd mention something people might have missed when trying to download the demo:

The full version of Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy is expected to go gold anytime now, and be made available to customers within the next few day

No crack yet though. 1.28gb. Still using the same copy protection as battlefronts other games. (Activation code).

The game runs damn smooth in 5760x1080 unlike CMSF (which imo was very unoptimized).
Lots of maps to pick with previews. Nice units (although 300mm rockets are overkill in this game.. 1 rocket attack almost took out all my unites the first round)
The ingame menus are working ok - I do however prefer the ones in cm1-3, but I can get used to this one.

I've heard that some units (like 60mm mortar) can be abit op'd with their almost sniping-alike ability..but I'm sure there are thing sto counter it with.

Not as many units avaible as one would expect, but they already promised more units in small expansions later on.
