You are 3 months late: http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1301760#1301760 and as you can see Gearbox responded that these dates aren't official.
From yesterday's interview: http://news.bigdownload.com/2010/12/28/interview-we-chat-with-gearboxs-randy-pitchford-about-duke-nuk/
Quote: | The game is going to ship in 2011, but we have not yet announced a specific date. We're not trying to be coy with that information, it's just that the specific information doesn't exist yet and we're still coordinating worldwide plans for marketing and launch of the game and there are still some details to be sorted out. I have an idea of around when we'll be doing each step, but we feel it's really important for us to be clear and accurate when we talk about dates with this particular game. |

This guy claims he talked to some Gearbox employees and one of the marketing people said the game should be out "first half of 2011", but that the February release date didn't come from them. Of course he could be full of shit, but whatever.
Quote: | Well I asked Randy and some marketing guys when they were on the ass side of the planet and it doesn't get more official than that. Regarding the release date, what they told me was that the February release date was not something that came from them - strangely they did defend shops making up such dates to grab sales, but oh well. The marketing guy said DNF is slated for an early 2011 release, when I asked for reconfirmation, he said that perhaps he should rephrase that and say it should definitely be out in the first half of 2011. |

a: most people are so OVER it, even now that it IS being finished, a lot of people just simply dont give a shit anymore.. i know i dont - not really, anyway.
and b: those that do care, and see the box in stores, will probably just laugh it off as a prank... psh.. like dnf actually got released, riiight ill just walk over to the counter and ask for a jrpg game that doesnt suck while im at it, lulz

Today there is another rumor about the release date. Before Amazon changed the release to May 31, Major Nelson twittered that date but quickly deleted it. On that same day George Broussard twittered another pig picture (he originally said DNF would be released "when pigs fly", and posted a picture of flying pigs before the PAX reveal.)

So what's the rumor? That it happened or that it proves something?
I mean did this really happen?

The latest issue of EGM has a quote from Randy Pitchford saying more info will be coming late January / early February:
Quote: | "The game is absolutely coming in 2011 and in late January or early February we're going to be peeling back the next layer of the game, so to speak. And that will make a lot more things clear not just about the game itself, but about its launch. |

I wouldn't hold my hopes up for any late January or early February release.

This game has so much hype behind it and dismay along the way, that it better fucking be a good title otherwise god the fuss that will ensue
I dont mind though, it will be fun reading about it either way it turns out

It'll be another generic and typical FPS. Well, it may stand out a little more but nothing too fancy or exotic. It's long overrun its time and age.

only thing that will stand out is that its duke nukem. I'm very confident that they have managed to strip the game off all the original thoughts and sense of real difficulty just to please the generation of 8 year old kids who just got a 360 as a xmas gift.

All the previews I''ve read note that the game looks like it will be something fresh and fun but no way it will be considered as one of the best games of all times.
Furthermore Broussard has explained that after a while (for example after they started using the Unreal II engine in 2003) the numerous delays of the title happened because they fucked up the production (no proper organization, etc) each time and it wasn't because they aimed to make "the best game of all times", at least not anymore.

At least in the last trailer there was a good dose of humor typical of the old Duke, which is a nice incentive for me

FPS games have lost all their challenge years ago, before the xbox360. They were never really that challenging anyways. Doom II was piss easy too, just strafe around and find keys to unlock doors.

I agree, but, they figured out how to make an FPS game easier then it already was. And online play today lacks as well, due to consoles.

meh ive always been more concerned about if the game was FUN or not... not if i felt CHALLENGED by it... and thus, the only thing i care about in dnf, is if i feel entertained, or if i feel bored and uninspired.

See, I'm different, not all games have to be a challenge to play, because some games are very heavy in dialogue, but games such as duke nukem, an FPS have to be challenging for me to continue to play, as its 90% gameplay.

so if a game is fun, but straight forward and relatively easy, you wont play it? so you never played modern warfare, or bad company 2 or crysis? (never finished, i mean)

Seems like there could be some kind of DNF news tomorrow. Maybe the trailer?
-Over the last couple days there's been news about Gearbox and Jon St. John (voice of Duke) finishing a recording session.
-Mike Neumann from Gearbox said he just got done visiting G4 and Gametrailers.
-A couple Gearbox guys were in Minneapolis visiting Game Informer, now Randy Pitchford twittered "I would check www.gameinformer.com first thing in the morning. There might be something extremely interesting there."
