Thanks for the suggestion, I tried putting back the original unmodified exe ran patch and then copied over cracked exe and skidrow.dll. It still asks for authentication. |
When you copied the crack over it asked you about overwriting the file, correct? If you're starting it from a shortcut, try going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Divinity II - DKS\bin (default location for a 64-bit system. 32 bit should just be C:\Program Files\Divinity II - DKS\bin) and running divinity.exe directly. Make sure that is the location you copied the files to. Make sure you didn't accidentally make a bin/bin folder or copy the files into the C:\Program Files (x86)\Divinity II - DKS directly.
Because, to me, the error is saying that you are running the original game exe which would indicate the cracked files were copied to the wrong location. Which, if you opened it in winrar and used "extract-to" and picked the bin folder, is exactly what would happen. Then you'd end up with either C:\Program Files (x86)\Divinity II - DKS\bin\bin\divinity2.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Divinity II - DKS\bin\skidrow\bin\divinity2.exe, either of which would not be right. Then if you used the shortcut it would be pointing to the original exe. Check the bin folder and make sure you don't have a skidrow folder or another bin folder
Should look, more or less, like these. No other directories in the bin folder and no divinity2.exe or skidrow.dll files in the Divinity II - DKS folder. The copy file is just the original exe I keep around for patching purposes (apparently I suck at putting images here I guess it didn't like the png files)"
My directories look just like yours Minus your copy file, Thanks for trying to help. I guess I'll play without the patch for now.

Remenber, DKS it's a game with less than 2 months. 26,79€ seems nice considering that.
But who knows?!
Anyway I spent more and I'm not regreted. For me it's one of this year best games. | Yeah yeah I mixed them up.
Guess I'm buying it, loved Divinity 2 after all.

I think I found a workaround. I went to the shortcut on my desk right clicked, went to properties, compatibility and set it to run in compatibility mode for window xp service pack 3. Thanks for your help.

I've been playing DKS for a good 30 hours now but I've gotten bored with it and decided to stop playing. Too much fighting and not enough interesting quests near the end, also didn't care about the storyline.
Is it worth playing the expansion to have some good quests?

Expansion is shorter so you shouldn't tire of it but it's also more action packed though there are numerous quests and it's not all action though comparing them they're both pretty similar in layout so if you didn't like Divinity 2 once you got to the later parts of the game you might not enjoy Flames of Vengeance much once you've gotten to the more combat oriented parts of the game.
Try it if you already have it installed and ready but if you start noticing it's getting tiresome and repetitive don't push yourself just to finish it and take a break or stop entirely instead.
(Not that good at explaining but I think you'll likely enjoy the initial parts of the expansion and the various improvements from D2 but as said the end-game parts might be a bit wearisome.)

There's a lot of humor and for just being " a few additional areas" the expansion isn't that short either, I'd recommend exploring and mind-reading is useful if you've gotten the XP penalty down with a few investments into the skill as to avoid being under-leveled due to having used it frequently, 15 points negates it entirely but that's a lot of points that might also help other skills as you'll likely know from the time with original Divinity 2.
(Enemies are stronger here and some areas can respawn occasionally, though originally every area could respawn and very quickly so it's been improved, so a good character design is very helpful, buying decent equipment is also important as it's more difficult to find items in general minus misc and quest related stuff.)

What are some of the best/better skills to invest in?
What about weapons, dual weapons best for damage dealing or ?
TIA

Dual wield tends to work really well due to the extra speed and if you have two high-quality weapons, I prefer to use a mace and sword combo and there are some nice rarer weapons available that fit that category, two handed is a bit slow and single weapon wasn't all that useful though sword and shield can help as well, didn't use bows much as there's little room for using them effectively in city environments.
Skills are mostly related to how you want to play but the regeneration ability helped though you'll do well to invest in potions just to be ready, healing spell can work but would need a lot of points and high intelligence stat (If I remember it correctly.) to be effective enough, fireball is a classic as well but has a similar issue even if it's a rather low-class spell though it's devastating once upgraded.
Not much advice or very helpful as such but do visit all traders as well to find good deals, now and then merchants also restock, especially the armorer and weapon smith "pair" near the market.
(Unique and rare weapons appear very frequently as well but are extremely costly, they're worth it though.)

So how is the character importer working? Will I have all the items I left in the chest and the items in my inventory, after I import the character from Divinity 2 to Flames of Vengeance? I still need to do the flying fortresses and some other stuff, but I'm pretty close to finishing it again so I want to know about that importing thing.

So I'm on Sentinel Island and I've chosen my cohorts as well as completed most of the quests available but I'm kinda stuck now. Was that barrier supposed to open up after I chose between the two people for each of the crafts? I can't get to the tower itself yet.
Am I missing something?

You need to light the candle at the windy rock output, talk to people to find out more info about this and explore to find the trapped soldier whom has the book needed for this ritual.
(There's a semi hidden cave in this area as well, underneath the candle outcropping I think, for a achievement quest that most people tend to miss.)

Ahh, was just about to correct my own post and mention I think I got it going. I hadn't played in a while and forgotten that the goldish colored quests are main story line quests that probably need to be completed to progress the game. Thanks JB!

i've tried this game with the latest patch from skidrow , played for an hour but there is really annoying micro stuttering.Ive tried capping the fps at 45 and 60 but the stuttering is still there no matter that the game is running for example at 57fps.Tried different video option but no luck still feels like the camera movement is lagging. Is there anything specific im missing ?

Same here, I'm experiencing constant micro-stuttering as well, and lowering the details doesn't seem to help either. Probably it's just a small "bug" of the game engine, nothing to worry about though.

The timeslice options are to preserve smoothness and framerate by only updating water and character animations every couple of frames instead of continually or some such, doesn't quite work as basic as that but it's best to keep them unticked if possible.
(The FoV engine tried to solve the issue by locking down framerate but the later patches allows for configuration tweaking to set your own limit as discussed previously.)
Gamebryo isn't exactly perfect but the game has improved over from 1.0 to this FoV patched build though the constant streaming will cause light stuttering depending on HDD performance and such.
(VRAM, RAM, CPU, GPU but mostly the HDD which is normally the slowest component and only defragmented on occasion further reducing efficiency.)
