I'm not a hardcore Diablo fan trying to get the maximum out of a build, so this change seems agreeable to me. Diablo was never stat heavy, for me atleast, so changing things a bit does not bother me. They are trying to make the system clearer, it doesn't mean it's "dumbed down". Sure they could've added twenty more core stats all interlinking with each other and affecting every skill with complex algorithms, but no one but the sadistic "l33t" PC gamers would like that. Diablo was always simplistic, the looting and the simple combat are appealing. Since when did Diablo have a complex system?

Quite frankly, this might turn out to be better, most classes had one, maybe 2 stats to focus on besides sheer health Smile

Yeah I also think its for the better. Honestly, noone ever put points into energy, strength was just raised to fit equipment needs, dexterity was also only ever used for equipment needs or maybe max block, so everyone put most of their stat points into vitality.

So changing a broken system is obviously for the better. And their changes to the 4 stats for diablo 3 also were not that great.

Also, quite honestly, the game never truely was about your stats. Items made or broke your character, stats were more of an afterthought for every player.

Seriously, I don't see what you're crying about. They didn't remove the attributes. They didn't even dumb them down. They just changed them. Hell, they even added one more. This change doesn't bother me at all. Hell, whenever I raised anything my first thought was ok, I need more health or I need to do more damage. Guess that makes me a "derp" Rolling Eyes

I read the article about runes yesterday.

The idea of inserting runes into your skills instead of gear seems pretty awesome. Reminds me of how Sacred 2 worked (which I LOVED)

And now they need to start an infinite balancing process in this game aswell same as WoW. They never get things right. Nerf and buf, nerf and buff all the god damn time. If they start doing the same as with wow you bet your ass you will see rotten nerfs to your class because some shit kids aren't 1 shotting others in the arena with the class. Why the fuck did they have to bring arena into this game... Soon we will see resilience stat aswell.

Actually, didn't Blizzard already state they have no intention of balancing the classes for Arena? In fact, if I'm not mistaken, they actually JOKED that some classes would be overpowered and - as such - would dominate. It's all only meant for fun, not something serious or competitive.

In Blizzards hands yes. Because they have a habit of not getting things right. I often see changelogs for WoW and Sigh to myself and next patch they revert back. And some classes just stays OP because seemingly they do not know how to balance them. Take Paladin for example, they admitted not knowing exactly how to bring them down and this was before Cataclysm.

But now as Sabin says, arena is just a fun factor and doesn't have any focus so it doesn't really matter. Just hope they don't change their minds when 10000000 kids says arena in D3 is the best thing ever.
