I've had this dam problem for quite some time tbh, but I've only payed more attention to it since my USB stick is dying slowly.
Anyway, the thing is - my Aerocool AE Plus case's front first USB slot only accepts my Cruzer U3 stick, nothing else connected to it. First I thought it might be OS problem, but I've gone through XP -> Vista -> 7 and the problem remains.
Win fails to identify hardware or drives connected and thus won't install drivers nor activate it.

Any ideas?

Bad grounding perhaps, faulty port, faulty wires leading to your motherboard..can be a vast array of things Smile

I've checked the connections. Everything is fine, nothing is loose, other slots work fine.
Most likely faulty port perhaps?

Guess it's time to dig up my USB hub then Razz

You say first port; you've got multiple ports on the front panel?

If so, do they share the USB header on the motherboard (they usually do - 2 ports off 1 header)? In that case, it might very well be bad grounding, common problem with cheap front panel USB boards Smile

Ok, to make things a bit clearer, since people/pages use different words for things:
I'm talking about this:

The connections itself are checked. At least, as best as I could check them. Wonder how is that possible that it only accepts MY cruzer U3 stick. Not other sticks (even U3) or anything.
Pretty bad case of selective failure Razz
