Has anyone ever explained the difference in size? Is it just compression or is there another 6 Gigs of content on the US version?

since they released a downgrade method for 3.55 i updated last night to buy some cars from the onilne dealership. what a waste! there were only 12 cars to choose from and they all sucked. so i figured ehh what the hell i'll try an online race or two while i'm on here and that was another waste of time. kicked from one before it even got started for no apparent reason and the other few that i tried people were just hanging out talking.

i miss the old days when people went online to play and not socialize.

Nothing official, just some rumours about Spa and Pikes Peak tracks.

@killabyte

Bad cars in online dealership? Well, all of them are standard and last week they did have FIVE different rx-7's in there, but Formula-GT is always there and thats second best car in the game and there is usually some very good touring cars and other exotics. I think there is even a Chaparral 2J this week.

For online just play on servers with ASM on off (you cant tick it in server search). Otherwise you do get a lot of kids. I was once on Le-Mans and people were driving up and down musane straight...

What does the blinking light that sometimes shows up in your HUD mean? I get numbers sometimes, too. I thought they were shift indicators but they don't always show up when I'm about to shift, and sometimes they kinda just pop up whenever.

Those numbers are ideal gear for the corner. I'm not sure what light you are talking about. If you are talking about the red blinking one, its shift-light on rev-limiter. Its there to show you when to change gears up.

I guess that makes sense. Now, if only I was good enough at the game to make use of those notifications in time.

I'm lucky enough to make it through the corner without spinning out, let alone being in the right gear Razz

Its a big patch, jet there isn't a lot of offline stuff in it. Couple of fixes for annoyances, some graphical fixes and a few new awards. The big thing are online dealership and online challenges. Getting Formula-GT from used car dealership is pain in the ass and you really don't get enough xp and money from normal events, those two really speed up game progression. I actually think they made the game so intentionally. They encourage players to login, you get extra paints and museum cards if you login regularly. If you don't, you need to grind and be annoyed at later levels. A way to battle piracy? If it is I don't like it. Progression, even with seasonal events, got quite slow for me at lvl 28 and only thing that keeps me leveling is Vetel Challenge at lvl 30. When I get there, it's only online and racing for fun.

Do they fix the ugly ass on-car shadows that look like they are rendered in 320x240? It really ruins some of the otherwise beautiful car models.

It's the power of the cell!! lol wut

In all actuality, I have no idea. I actually decided against just installing everything at the beginning. It will install things to the hard drive as you load them. Makes the first load of each car and track a little longer, but I didn't need to sit and install everything all at once.

I did the full install too and it took me just over an hour ... absolutely ridiculous considering it's only a 6.4GB install Rolling Eyes I've had other games install just as much (if not more?) data in just a fraction of the time.

I noticed that if you do the full install using the "backup", the loadings are awful here compared to no install, because I guess it tries to access datas of both GT.VOL (mounted bdvd) and installed data in hdd0/game/BCES00569/, so double access and hdd doesnt know where to look. So i disabled auto install altogether, and loads as fast (and sometimes faster !) than my friend running it from the bdvd + full install !

I heard that too, but if these loading times are considered awful... then I'm more than happy Very Happy Honestly, they're just a few seconds at most.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-gt5-installation-blog-entry
http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/gran-turismo-5-install-vs-no-install?size=hd

That vid shows non-installed loading and installed loading. My game, running from the internal *and* with full install. is slightly faster than theirs showing "installed" loading. I'm actually very impressed with it.

is there a way to enable a "standard" cockpit view for all cars?
the bumper view really sucks. you can see that its the cockpit view just without textures.
it feels like driving in a kart because of the invisible walls around the car.
i want to see the bumper and the wheel, dont care if there are real stickers and stuff in the cockpit.
is it possible?

and 2nd: how can i make this game harder?
im driving with logitech wingman formula force gp on simulation, all "driving support" options are off but its still really easy. cant find any options.

im really having fun with this game, except of these two things Smile

well ... another question.
someone here driving with logitech wingman formula force gp?
i want to update my ps3 to the newest firmware but it seems like there is a problem now with 3rd party controllers.
would be a shame if i update and cant play anymore with my wheel.

so anyone on 3.55 with the same wheel? Smile thanks

@feiwald

1. No cockpit view for standard cars. Only premium cars have it.
2. No way of increasing difficulty. If you want to have more challange just try to take car similair to AI to the track. Difficulty is really quite all over the place. Some things are easy as fuck, some are hard as fuck.
3. There are no problems with updating to 3.55 and wheels. If it worked before, it'll work after updating.

Holy goddamn, the install isn't messing around, I've been on "40 seconds remaining" for about 30 minutes, lol..

The HDD indicator light is still flickering away though... I think. Sad
