Hi,
Trying to connect these two. Is it possible (probably via DVI-HDMI)?
How about the sound, will 8800GTX output sound?

Yeah, that'll work fine. Depending on your TV and soundcard, there are a few possibilities.
You'll most likely have 3.5mm jacks on your soundcard and RCA jacks on the rear of your TV so a simple 3.5mm -> 2xRCA cable will work, just connect it to the line-out or speaker out of your soundcard. If your TV has a digital coaxial or optical input, you could use that as well if your soundcard has either of those as output.
If you don't have a surround set hooked up to your PC, you can even use speakers and the TV audio at the same time; PC speakers into the green speaker jack, TV into the light-blue line-out jack. After that simply configure Windows to use both as separate 2.0 speakers, most soundcard control panels allow this
