Hey guys, I don't want to be a bother, but does anyone have an original, unmodified EBOOT file for GT5...I need to replace the modified one, but can't seem to locate the one I originally saved. Help a brudda out, please! TIA.

Yes, it's pretty much perfect .... almost. For now you still have to run the LV2 Patch app each time you reboot and want to play backups, but the devs of a few managers have already stated they're going to incorporate the code DIRECTLY into their managers, meaning we won't even need to do that any more.
This is as close to perfect as we're going to get, for now. Oh and don't forget; you can only run homebrew that has been signed for 3.55, anything lower (or not signed at all, like debug stuff) refuses to run and gives Error 80029519.

Sorry about that...should have been a little more detailed.
I downloaded the files from the psx-scene post from above (http://www.multiupload.com/UBPX1755MG), and then extracted everything into one folder. You'll need an OFW 3.55 FW file in the folder too. Loaded command prompt and typed the following...
bspatch PS3UPDAT.PUP PS3CFW.PUP patchfile
Then I renamed the FW, put it on a USB drive, loaded into Recovery Mode, and installed that mofo. And boom, all is well and sexy hahaha. Hope that helps.

Next step would be working on a new payload, or atleast incorporating hermes v4b for now. After all, the lv2.pkg is based on cock-a-rat´s PL3 with lower compatibility.

Yeah, I'm not overjoyed about it emulating PL3. I'm not even sure GT5 is going to work now, since it never worked on PL3 before :\

You'll know if it worked if you see a new .PUP file appear in the folder =) It should be called "PSCFW.PUP" or similar.

No, it just means that while you can INSTALL pkgs not signed for 3.55, they won't actually work when they are installed. You need 3.55 versions of your homebrew/emulators/managers.

So its not working for some reason then.
heres what I did open folder containg files, Type cmd into the address bar with folder, Then type bspatch PS3UPDAT.PUP CFW_v3.55.patch
Then windows ask permission to open bspatch I click yes it opens then closes right away with now CFW created.

you're almost right, but missing a key command. Type THIS and ONLY this;
bspatch PS3UPDAT.PUP PS3CFW.PUP CFW_v3.55.patch
That will OPEN the ps3updat.pup, CREATE the ps3cfw.pup, WITH the cfw_v3.55.patch file. Once that has done you'll have a new file in that folder called "PS3CFW.PUP" -- once you have that, delete or rename the PS3UPDAT.PUP, rename PS3CFW into PS3UPDAT.PUP and put that into the PS3\UPDATE folder on your USB stick.

All worked, installed and playable on 1.05. I've not tried License stuff yet (kinda worried about it, given PL3's history with this game) but I have noticed loading times are SIGNIFICANTLY higher with the 1.05 patch than they were on 1.00 :\ That damned silver GT logo stays on the screen for what seems like minutes. Gonna try some races, check it all works.

Dont forget people, after you install the lv2.pkg, you have to restart the console before doing anything else.
This should solve atleast a few problems.
