As people say, the only method to get the latest Starforce working is to build a copy with the latest Alcohol (DPM), burn it at x1 on your CD-R/DVD-R and insert the medium to external USB CD-ROM/DVD-ROM.

Yo peeps! I found a mini-image on gamecopyworld and says the following:

Install the game - Full Installation.
Disable any CD-ROM/Writers and/or DVD-ROM/Writers using StarForce Nightmare.
Mount the SCCT.MDS CD-Image in Daemon Tools v3.47 or the latest Alcohol 120%.
Play the Game!

Does this work? I don't have the game so I can't test. I'll place the link:

Wel of course i know what a usb drive is, but what i dont get is why i need one to play? Maybe i should just write a program to emulate a usb-drive instead, shouldent be to hard!

i can confirm that it DOESN'T work... as expected.
Daemon and alcohol are blacklisted the minimage trick isn't working anymore.. of course you remember last time daemon and alcohol were blacklisted cxziso found that beatyful registry hack to give the minimage trick back to us... maybe another hack would emerge

If it is valid however, could there be a cd version floating around..? every russian site ive been on(checked again today after reading posts -use google and babelfish) (well, not everyone, but alot) say that North America is lucky cuz we have a cd version of sc3 with safedisc4 on it...I have not seen this and have only heard about this on european forums...anyone seen something floating around?

Can't you edit your registry or some other trick to make it not blacklisted? I remember it worked with many games, last one I tried was Pirates!.

Doesn't matter, I'm absolutely sure devs of StarForce are reading forums like these. They will fix the external USB solution in the next version, and a new patch from UBI will be released with the new version so you won't be able to update the game, thus can't play online even with a valid key.

However, the scene won't die. I doubt even 50% of publishers will switch to StarForce.

That's right.

Personally I believe they can fix it but are afraid of another incompatibility problems. This crap is already a stinkbomb for our OSes.

Yes, as I said, I'm sure D2D games are protected. But the protection must be minor, considering the entire game resides on your hard drive and can be played from there. Certainly there's no SF3 on it. And there's no server authentication; you don't have to be online to play. Anyone know anything about what protection they do use, and why it hasn't been cracked yet?

All games on Direct2Drive are activated online. We use Trymedia Activemark to license your game

If it's the same as SC:PT, it should be somewhere in the Local Settings folder, which is hidden by default in XP.

dyn IP addys, subnet & mac spoofs, email routing, and if all else fails, wi-fi. banned? lol, its more like brb. =p

It's not so much as to play with NOCD as rather being able to play a coop game in LAN

It's so simple, it's almost sad it took me 1 week to figure out!
Only works with an original copy of the game:
1. Install the game into each computer with the original DVD
2. Update or start the game
3. Once the game is in the Solo/COOP screen, remove the DVD from the DVD-Rom and put it into the other computer's DVD-Rom
4. Start a coop game with any of the two computers and enjoy fine LAN play

Been tested an works with version 1.01 of the game

To sum it up, the safety verification is done only upon starting the game (the loading gizmo), after that,
it never checks for the DVD in the drive allowing to play like you would with an XBox or a PS2. It's as simple as that!

That's a good question. It seems feasible, as it's kind of like a USB DVD-ROM drive, except across the network. Someone who has a copy of the CLONE should try it.

heh heh, I heard Direct2Drive version has StarForce encryption also... with only 5 activations... meaning you can only install it 5 times then you are screwed and have to buy the game again. getting ridiculous, no publishers are going to use StarForce since it has so incompatibilities, except of course UBI shitware.

i refuse to buy chaos theory for 2 reasons

A) StarForce proteciton
B) NO DVD DRIVE

that means if they had a CD format and non-gaystar protection I would actually consider buying the game,

Damn I hate strarshit right now man. It has fixed all ways to get around except the USB-DVDROM. Hope a release is very soon.
Btw. I found the game Obscure (c) Microids here on nforce and it says it has also Starforce 3 protection and Reloaded released it, so how come they don't release SCCT which has the same protection.
Damn it.

It's probably an older version of Starforce. Either that or Reloaded was working earlier on Obscure than they did on Splinter Cell.
