Not gonna happen until console games get CD-Keys and activation limits.

haha now that you mention it, i remember doing that with final fantasy 8 on the pc back then...split the price with 2 friends Laughing

anyway, you could just set the extra dvds as some sort of "content only", like forza3 did, so you still need disc1 for starting the game and no sharing is possible.

The Forza 3 method implies a required installation, meaning that you would need to install all additional discs to play the game. That can get problematic if your harddrive doesn't have enough space left.

I think the current system is the smallest hassle for non-pirates since they don't pay the whopping 2€ per DVDR that seem to threaten your financial existence, for them a single disc game costs as much as a three disc one.

they could just offer it as an option. either install everything or don't and swap discs

oh and btw it's not about the money, i'm just a lazy fuck who dislikes dsik swaps if there is a possibility to remove them altogether

what difficulty did you play on? cause on normal the last boss is a friggin joke and the enemies before weren't really a problem either. and that regenerating fucker (can you actually kill those?) was annoying as fuck, but still easily disposable

btw, pulse rifle is also great for the last boss, since it goes through the little fuckers like a hot knife through a bab...err i mean butter. and dishes out shitloads of dmg if properly upgraded

+1

I couldn't care less if the leaked version would have been on 2, 3 or 4 discs and the original on one, I'd rather go and buy that than having to deal with shitty disc swap.

As long as the play disc is dvd1 and none of those guys have a modified x360, I don't see how that could happen.
If you have a game on 2 or more dvds, give the option to install both/all discs, and make it so you can lunch the game only with the first disc(or what ever the play disc is). This method didn't work on PC because it's not a locked platform (you could copy the play disc and use a virtual drive or whatever to get around that), but all consoles are locked by default (those that aren't locked will run a pirate copy of any game no matter what they do), so you don't have that problem here.

Playing at the highest available difficulty, and I must say it's harder than DS1, I find myself constantly low on ammo (which is good in this kind of games imho, ramps up the tension).
So far, it's an improved and refined version of DS1, no revolution (or even much of an evolution) but the original mechanics where good enough and didn't need much improvement.

Yes thats true but there are so many of them and they come from all sides that i get overrun quickly and if i use only my pulse rifle im out of ammo before i kill 'it'. i try using mines because i got 40 off 'm but thats also pretty hard and my seeker rifle is just to slow to kill those small fuckers.

Finished it already. Normal difficulty, 14 chapters, took me 7 hours and 50 minutes. Absolutely AMAZING game, with fantastic audio and atmosphere - plus some of the very best lighting and shadowing I've seen in a game.

Thoroughly disappointing game length though. Not even 8 hours... it took me more time to beat Black Ops >_> Oh and happy to report DS-Extraction works just fine on the standard controller without needing Move.

try the ripper then. no skill needed, just go nuts, swing it around in an arc and they die extremely fast. as an added bonus, you're cutting up their corpses too in most cases which means moar ammo/medpacks!

It was written in a review a while back that the ending "teases" about DS3. Not sure what they meant by tease here... Without spoiling the ending ,can someone please clear this up?

There's no tease to 3. More like a nudge/joke about the DS1 ending. It's an ok ending but i saw it coming a mile away.

Also the game is damn hard! I finished 1 on hard barely getting hit/dying. Now i played on survivalist and i died loads of times and never had enough ammo.

Maybe i'll replay it on normal NG+ to see the unlocks (prototype and elite suit but you gotta find em first). I also did not find the peng treasure did anyone?

Ha! Got me there. It was just kinda unexpected to me as it's a lot harder then "hard" in ds1.

obvious "tease" is obvious. coming soon: DS3, in which you go on a quest to destroy all the other markers, accompanied by your pirate sidekick. i just hope they don't ruin the franchise by milking it too much, DS2 was already a bit of a step down compared to the epicness of DS1

Disc-Swap fix: http://www.elitemodscene.com/index.php/topic/1124-dead-space-2-disc-swap/

Quote:
Our good friend cOz has released a solution for the Dead Space 2 disc swap issue that many people have been stressing over. It's a simple dashlaunch plugin that auto swaps for you, remember to remove the plugin from ini once it's no longer needed/wanted.

** When adding the plugin to your launch.ini be sure to add it as 2 lines
[Plugins]
plugin1 = Hdd:\swap.xex

the [plugins] line if vital, it lets dashlaunch know that there are plugins to load. The plugin WILL NOT LOAD without it.

GODS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
add to dash launch plugins
ie:
plugin1 = Usb:\swap.xex

currently hardcoded for iso2god images which were built and installed as:
disk1: Content\\0000000000000000\\454108DF\\00007000\\831BBD71B701B42512FF
disk2: Content\\0000000000000000\\454108DF\\00007000\\B8605B3BAFB748ACD08A
with .data folders of the same names beside the hash names

Note: this really REALLY ignores most possible errors...

have phun deadites!
cOz

Hdd1--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
add to dash launch plugins
ie:
plugin1 = Usb:\swap.xex

currently hardcoded for iso extracted images which were built and installed as:
disk1: /hdd1/Games/Dead Space 2 D1/
disk2: /hdd1/Games/Dead Space 2 D2/

have phun deadites!
cOz

USB
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
add this to your launch.ini

[Plugins]
plugin1 = Usb:\swapusb0.xex

2 xexs are included swapusb0 and swapusb1 use the one cooresponding to the USB HD
that contains your game files. If you only have 1 usb drive, it will be usb0.

Paths are currently hardcoded for iso extracted images which were built and installed as:
Swapusb0.xex:
disk1: /usb0/Games/Dead Space 2 Disc 1/
disk2: /usb0/Games/Dead Space 2 Disc 2/

Swapusb1.xex:
disk1: /usb1/Games/Dead Space 2 Disc 1/
disk2: /usb1/Games/Dead Space 2 Disc 2/

have phun deadites!
cOz

usb paths added by Blackwolf

Ds2 compared to Ds1 is piss easy , why you ask ? on ds1 on hard they killed you in a instant and you had to shoot 10 times to get one limb then when you go on easy this turns around you got instant kill ,only light brush and you kill a necro...
here in Ds2 easy difficulty is the same as Ds1 , but on hardcore in ds2 well you can still kill them in a instant but now they can kill you the same way... that's not hard that's retarded

and bushwacka is right the DS2 is crap compared to DS1 epic , crap like : no more Map on the loading screen where you travel , no more immersion they called it "this is the first game that will not take you out from the game" and yet this one does it , no more mini games on the WHOLE STATION [on DS1 you had minigames] , and the thing is DS2 compared to DS1 is awfully small when in the middle you backtrack the same maps [DS1 was longer and larger in scale then DS2 !] ,so WTH does it had to be on 2 disks oh i get its MULTI 5 with useless Deathmatch that's why its got 14 gigs then 5,4gig , weapons are useless you only need 4 basic to finish the whole game other ones are useless trash , when in Ds1 every one WAS NEEDED to complete the game in some point/ to defeat some kind of necro , DS1 had more RIGs then DS2 , Zero gravity was Zero Gravity not like in DS2 "Fly time with uncle willy using magic boots"

looks like they spend more time on the Deathmatch segment then on the actual SP campaign

good points hfric, but you forgot:
1. the bosses! DS2 doesn't have any (those bigger necros which were minibosses in DS1 don't count), DS1 had epic mofos
2. the campaign. DS1 epic shit, forever alone on a spaceship. great atmosphere. DS2? fuckin standard succession of the usual shooter levels. a few nicely done scripted scenes, but that's about it.
3. space walks. those in DS1 were kinda frightening and almost realistic, DS2? O2 stations everywhere, zoom around with magic boots
4. enemies. they just copypasta'ed most and while the little kids are well done, the rest aren't anything special and the guy who can't hold his liquor is just purely annoying
5. guns. ffs, at least switch em up a bit or make the worse half more useful. i burned through the game with the exact same weapon combo as i did in DS1, which leads to...
6. copypasta gameplay experience which becomes far too easy cause you've done it before.

it's still by far not a bad game, really enjoyed it, but it could have been so much better if they had tried something new instead of turning a great concept into a standard tps.

Sad well its at the time when you go to a elevator , you press the button and a big sign will pop out "insert disk 2" it was so MGS i lulz and then chapter 5 starts when you insert it

if i remember correctly this elevator is before :
1. 2 light barriers ... those blue laser barriers
2. right next to that elevator is that thing that was in DS1 , a human necro glued to a wall shooting babies that shoot spikes and attack you with tentacles
