How is patching a little game every freakin' day good? If your game needs such frequent patching something went wrong.

Quote:
We were contacted by Paradox Interactive, who had nice things to say about this story. "I do agree with you that the MP game should have been better on release, probably the SP game as well. I know working on the game after release is a sorry excuse," Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox, told Ars. "Our press release had no intention to brag about the numbers—WoW [sold] around 2 million first 24 hours after all—,rather telling the gamers we do not consider the product finished but in need of updates, sorry if it came out the wrong way."

Well atleast they know they fucked up.

How is it not?

Every game we get today is almost always broken in atleast one way. Look at Black Ops. Game was almost unplayable for most at release, and it took them days to get a patch out, and the problem still isn't fully fixed.

Meanwhile, this 7-man team has fixed pretty much all of the major issues already.

This game isn't any more broken than many large-budget games released today.

Well that's the problem. When it's a big budget game it's "a shit game released in beta stage", but when it's a small dev team its "the guys are thinking of us, we love em!!". It's bullshit. I could understand technical issues being a problem for small teams, but quest problems and such should be as absent as possible in indie games as in big budget game. I'd be totally pissed if I had bought this game.

I bought it, and despite the bugs it's great fun. I'd be pissed if I'd paid 50-60€, but for 10€ I can be patient while the tiny dev-studio iron out some bugs.

Quite frankly, i can't bring myself to play the game since patch #3.

Its the indie curse. Just like elemental, this is yet another game with a great concept plagued by such horrible issues that suck most of the fun out of it.

Maybe in a few more patchs the game will become great, too bad I will lose interest by that time.. :/

Couldnt disagree more , for an indie title that costs a few £ ill accept that the game may need patching or may have issues, for a big budget company with the ridiculous amount of funds they get thrown at them issues like BO should never occur, its like buying a PC but your keyboard will be delivered next week and the monitor some time in the future possibly when everyone else has figured out its missing and phoned in to complain.
At least these guys are trying to stay on top of things its a shame the same cant be said about the guys getting paid 10x what they are.

Bought it and love it. No issues in singleplayer.

Multiplayer on the other hand, with my and my friend's slow upload speed, is often VERY laggy. It takes like 50-150KB/s per1 client connected to server - and our upload speed is about 50KB/s. At least a dev confirmed on the forums they are working on optimizing bandwidth issues in multiplayer

There was about 8 bugs stacked on the screen. Players de-doubling, jerking, spawning at another place, camera panning, players turning invisible, players get pushed 1000000meters... wtf

Found this over on CH page for Magicka by RedWraith:

Hi !
I just found a nice way to speed up casting times.
What you need is a nice little tool named AutoHotKey.
With AutoHotKey you can map different combinations of buttons and mouseclicks to each other. You could, for example, write a script that would emulate pressing 'asf' when you press the '1' key.

The script is rather self-explaining. It starts off with enforcing the use of keyboardhooks (This might strike some AntiVirus as odd, so look out for warnings). After that the delay between each emulated key press and the press-down time is defined.

Then we start defining our Hotkeys in this fashion:
1::SendPlay asf

That means if you press '1' AutoHotKey will emulate pressing 'asf' which will prepare the elements to cast the spell Haste.

Just save the following script as *.ahk and then doubleclick it and the defined hotkeys should become available ingame.

#UseHook ;Script may use Hooks
#InstallKeybdHook ;Force the use of Hooks
SetKeyDelay, 50, 50, Play ;Delay between KeyDown/KeyUp and different Keys
;Now for the Spells:
1::SendPlay qrqrqrqrqr ;xIce, I just like it !
2::SendPlay qfasa ;Thunder Bold
3::SendPlay fdfqdf ;Meteor Storm
4::SendPlay qqf ;Rain
5::SendPlay asf ;Haste

Just D/L Autohotkey from here, its free.
Code:

http://www.autohotkey.com/download/

the Magicka.ahk file RedWraith uploaded to RS

Code:

;#UseHook               ;Script may use Hooks
;#InstallKeybdHook         ;Force the use of Hooks
SetKeyDelay, 50, 50, Play   ;Delay between KeyDown/KeyUp and different Keys
;Now for the Spells:
1::SendPlay qrqrqrqrqr      ;xIce, I just like it !
2::SendPlay qfasa         ;Thunder Bold
3::SendPlay fdfqdf         ;Meteor Storm
4::SendPlay fqffqffq      ;Conflathingy
5::SendPlay qqf            ;Rain
6::SendPlay asf            ;Haste

Install the Autohotkey program. Then you can either use the program itself to edit the ahk file or use notepad to set it up for your favorite spells, etc. Then doubleclick the ahk file to start it,
then play Magicka, with your shortcut keys as you want them. Works fine W7X64 no issues yet. I just tried his file as it was. It also has tons of other keys ( F1-24 keys , mouse keys, joystick, etc ) See website for documentation & examples.

Use healing. I dunno about singleplayer, but in multiplayer two beams paralyzed him from attacking.
