apart from that this game is awesome. |
I think it's nice little detail that Jackie doesn't run. I mean tough guys don't ever run.
Getting lost. Are you serious. There aren't so many areas in this afterall.
I think this is the best shooter ever on any platform. Beats even Half-Life 1.

Just watched a review of this and cannot believe i missed it!
I doesnt seem to have got crazy good reviews, but the community of players still seem to love it?
Is it worth grabbing?

apparenlty "The Darkness PS3 JB USA Gir489" has 9gb video files which are played on the tv's as you go around.
Anyone know if just deleting the big files will allow it to work on external?

Apparently they are just extras, little films like to kill a mocking bird on tv screens as you go through the game.
Ok fine i'll stick it on internal.
Whats the best windows app to rip a game to external hard drive (and split the big files with parsc) which backup managers will then convert to interal and put files back together?

Split4G is a Windows app that will scan your USRDIR and automatically split any large files into 4GB chunks. Managers like Gaia and MM will automatically rejoin the files once you copy from ext>int while inside the manager app. As for ripping TO external? None in Windows, you can't rip PS3 games outside of the Backup Manager since it's the manager that decrypts the files during dump.
If I'm not mistaken, most managers will split files on the fly now when dumping from BR to ext or copying from int to ext, but nothing in Windows will do that. You need to use Split4G then transfer the files to external as you usually do.

Cheers my good man.
If i set the source and destination as the same folder, and leave filename.666 as the default, the start button is greyed out. Any ideas?

wtf split4g is annoying.
it's buggy, but what i've done is rename PS3_GAME folder to PS3_GAME_OLD folder, and then created a new empty PS3_GAME folder.
THen I run the program (when the start button decides to come into life), and it processes - but obvioulsy I am going to be left with numerous files > 4gb in PS3_GAME_OLD and loads of new <4gb files in PS3_GAME
THen I guess I need to find the >4gb files, delete and replace with the new split versions?
What a headache! Maybe FTP into PS3 WAS the better option

ok it turns out it copies all the files, and splits the big ones and deletes the original. Much more handy! Thanks SAbin!

Sorry mate, I was away playing MW2 -- looks like you've figured it out now anyhow. The app COPIES the files for you if you specify a different folder =)

Well, you cant claim I didn't try.
I agree it's probably a great fun game, but the controls were mega shit. I gave up in the end as it was so difficult to aim. Graphics pretty dated now too lol.
I'll probably play the 2nd though.

Well the PS3 had a, well deserved, reputation for having AWFUL multiplatform ports back in those days... and hell, even today some of the multiplatform titles are laughable on the PS3, and if I'm not mistaken; The Darkness was one of them :\

Ah well, it doesn't matter really - I doubt the controls will be that much better on x360 - GT review claimed they weren't brilliant and that was on the x360.
Cheers for all your help all the same Sabs
