-edit-
Pretty much exactly the same. 30-35fps with some minor stutter. Everyone else with considerably weaker machines are claiming 50-60+ Ah well, another example of everyone else getting something I don't
*deleted* Just like the first game, it's a pile of unoptimised shite and I refuse to play it at 1024 just to get a decent framerate. |
Ugh very disappointing
The fact that Nvidia spent $2,000,000 on the game would kinda explain it

No doubt this has been covered already in this thread but... is dx11 content working?

Nah, not according to JB. The DX11 dlls are there, but the shaders aren't. The DX10 shaders are there, but the dlls aren't. It's just DX9 for now.

I'm running it at 50+fps with all settings maxed out, no stuttering here...

Worth a shot to try the beta version? I'm curious if DX10 looks much better.

disable catalyst AI!!!
I've got an 4870x2... with catalyst AI it was unplayable... without it's fine... might be crossfire on my end... but it's worth a shot... right?

Just for shits and giggles, before deleting it I set it to run in 1280x720 (instead of 1680) and it ran 45fps+ -- but like I said, I'm not dropping the resolution so low because;
1. Shouldn't have to. It's a fucking console port, despite what Derptek say to the contrary.
2. My monitor is 1680 native and looks like boiled ass on non-native resolutions.

Either because i had low expectations or because i didnt expect much from an beta, probably both.
The game is pretty good.Yes the nano suit is spoon feeding you info just like your some kind of retard along for the ride.But the game ain't easy that's for sure; i can't say it's incredibly hard.
I'm betting i'll clock it around 10hours or so for the sp.
Had to replay some missions because some triggers wouldn't activate.
It's fun.The fire fights are intense and they pull off that urban predator feeling.Although i know that if the game would have been a pc exclusive title then i have a feeling things might have been a lot different.

Posted: Sat, 12th Feb 2011 20:20 Post subject: Good (general) system.cfg |
|
 |
There are lots of fun options to play around with, like unlocking DLC and preorder items. I do however see some options in the configs in this topic that come from Crysis 1 and aren't relevant to Crysis 2 or that simply restate the default value, changing nothing. The (general) config I use is:
Code: | ; crysis2
sys_game_folder=GameCrysis2
sys_dll_game=CryGameCrysis2.dll
sys_user_folder=Crysis2
r_ShadersRemoteCompiler=0 ; 0 means local shader compiling
r_displayInfo = 0 ; disable info at top right of screen
r_enableAltTab = 0 ; disable alt-tabbing, since it crashes the beta anyway
log_Verbosity = 1 ; only log errors
sys_languages = "english,french,spanish,german,turkish"
net_inactivitytimeout = 32 ; nr. of sec until server trows inactive connection away (was set ridiculously high)
net_inactivitytimeoutDevmode = 32 ; same as above, but for Devmode (don't know why you'd want to play multiplayer in Devmode?)
g_enableInitialLoginScreen = 0 ; disable login screen at game startup
g_gamespy_loginUI = 0 ; disable multiplayer login screen
net_lanbrowser = 1 ; find LAN (local) matches instead of internet matches in multiplayer serverbrowser
net_initLobbyServiceToLan = 1 ; make LAN (local) lobbies instead of internet lobbies in multiplayer
sv_lanonly = 1 ; launch LAN only server
sv_servername = "LAN" ; server name (should show up in LAN serverbrowser)
s_SpeakerConfig = 2 ; 2 is stereo config, seems to provide more consistent quality compared to surround
s_FormatType = 3 ; 24 bit sample rate sound
cl_fov = 75 ; larger Field of View, not sure if it works properly
cl_nickname = "NAMEHERE" ; nickname for multiplayer
i_mouse_smooth = 30 ; disable mouse smoothing completely (0 should disable smoothing, but doesn't entirely)
g_dlcPurchaseOverwrite = 1 ; "Cheat to unlock DLC content on PC without purchase" -Crytek
g_ignoreDLCRequirements = 1 ; shows servers in browser that run DLC you don't have
g_presaleUnlock = 0 ; 1 unlocks presale content without voucher
g_skipIntro = 1 ; skips all intro movies
g_useOnlineServiceForDedicated = 0 ; dedicated server in LAN mode (don't know for sure, this config crashes dedicated server anyway)
|
With these settings you can play MP on Tunngle (if you change the name at NAMEHERE) and you don't have to wait for the intro videos (among other things). I found interesting CVARS by launching the editor and then double clicking the commandline at the bottom, you can search through the entire CVAR list that way and get a description of each.
The only thing I'm still struggling with is key mapping, I can not change keys and it annoys me to no end. Also the horribly bugged gun sounds really annoy me as well, and I tried to change the gun sounds in Sounds.pak to guns that do have proper sounds, but this doesn't seem to work (you hear nothing at all when you replace sounds).

I can't start the first level. It loads, I "play" the sub part, end up being saved by a nanosuited guy, cinematic plays and finishes, then a black screen, GPU fan slowing down and nada.

The game looks much better than the console media I've seen so far. It competes with the original (although not in scope, but is also runs much better).
edit I mean its graphics compete with the original's. I don't know about gameplay/story. I'm not playing anymore because I don't want to spoil it.
