what does it mean when is says..."hivesys.inf corrupt, can't install Windows XP?"

No,
you are trying to install windows from cd when you get this error right?
well if this is the case try to clean your cd or get hold of a new copy of windows

yeap, figured that out lastnight after the 10th failed install...but it works now Very Happy

yeah, what happened was I burned the CD at 48x on one computer and tried to install it on another computer...apparently the other computer couldn't read the cd as well as the one that i burned it on... Laughing oh well..live and learn.
