How secure are these PSN methods? Is it something that Sony can block just like the DNS workabout?

On an nfo file I found it said you can use PSARC extractor to extract data_ps3.psarc it and you can play from external. I am gonna try that.

Downloaded the 20GB version on torrents last night. Only just started using newsgroups but if this is how long it can take for something to be uploaded, I think I will cancel my subscription.

You can also be helpful and make/upload the par's, small effort but great value.

If the archives are the same size ofcourse.

Sadly it doesn't work that way, you have to have the exact source material otherwise the parity files will complain that they're from the wrong set and refuse to work.

Sigh, i'm getting so pissed off @ these amateurs uploading 22 gb with no single par.

Thinking of cancelling my Astraweb subscription too, it just seems that things take longer and longer to appear on usenet these days. Things like Strikeforce (MMA events) can take two days to appear whereas they're on torrent sites within hours.

And not seeing that there's no pars, I'm thinking I'll just go with Rapidshare or some site like that.

Any harm in grabbing the 40GB Version?

I know it's the 3D release and I don't have a 3D TV but will it still play as normal...?

I'm thinking about going this direction since the 20GB version doesn't have any PARS. I have unlimited Usenet bandwidth so I'm not worried. Smile

I would also like to know an answer for the above query. Does the 40GB have any issues? Also what the fook is PARS?

PARS as in PAR files are used to repair an rar file in the archive that may be damaged due to incorrect posting or server errors. To make a long story short you will need PARS when any of the rar files give you errors in extracting from winrar.

I'm assuming since my original question wasn't answered that the 40GB version will work just fine for us folks without 3D TV's just that the 22GB version has the 3D stuff ripped out of it to save space and time for downloading.

I'd be interested to take this 40GB image and run it through PS3 Game Extractor or whatever it's called to remove all the foreign language tracks to see if the size shrinks.

Thanks for the explanation Piggy. I'm concerned about the video stuttering issues that people who have the 22GB version are reporting. Would that be an issue with the 40GB copy as well? Any other known issue?

Playing the 40gb version in 3d here. No video stuttering as of yet. I'm about 3-4 levels in.

So, 3D does work? I wonder why they said it didn't? Less they... didn't try it.. on an actual 3D tv haha. If it's working for you then I may just grab that one and give it a go in 3D.

Really....
Who said that...? LOL!!!!

Personally these company's better take a look around and tighten security on internal releases. I don't know the whole story of how Killzone 3 got leaked but I bet someone took the master disc home and ripped it in his JB PS3. Then it's just a matter of time before it spreads like wildfire.

There were reports of employees doing this at a major disc studio here in the states. In order to avoid getting caught they would throw the discs in the dumpsters and grab them out on the way home. They knew trash pick-up day to avoid problems.

Game developers normally required about 2 weeks for the disc production process to occur, so this leak makes sense on how it was obtained.

First Crysis 2 now Killzone 3
What's next Duke Nukem Forever..?

From my search it's showing zero pars (well, actually 1 tiny one) even with the repack (and search is stating the upload is complete).

I'll go for the 40 gig instead, par files are a must.

Oh, and also is there any evidence to this comment?

wtf so usenet is not getting censored and usenet providers like astraweb removing access to files which Sony and other companies demand are removed? If so, this is the begining of the end of usenet... and my subscription to astraweb also!

If so, sources please as from my understanding of newgroups it would have zero effect as Astrweb, like all usenet hosts, synchronize servers therefore removing it from one would work until a resync. I'm assuming sony didn't tell the world to remove their files (knowing sony they probably did)
