I too have that spark, right alongside the sparks waiting and hoping for LBA3, Outcast 2, BG3, ROTT2 (there's rumours about the Apogee label + ROTT coming back actually), JA3 (properly)...need I go on? However, with the exception of ROTT (possibly), all of these games seem too complicated for the current generation (or should I say next-gen ) of gamers, hence they'd get butchered.
Good thing I have my DOSBOX + stupido amount of games.
At least we can be proud of Epsilove in a few years. Either that or he'll most likely ban himself

Other than it's original isometric perspective and mouse control, what other engine would make a decent Syndicate?
I'm struggling to think of any.
It'd be cool if they kept the isometric viewpoint but allowed you the option of controlling the characters in first person.

Yes, but you have to face reality, the chances of them taking a risk on the game in its original form are slim, they're going to go for the lowest common denominator and that's a FPS, at least the above would give gamers the option.

no - shadowrun was made by fasa studios who are mostly known for mech games
i have high hopes for starbreeze to pull this off.. their riddick was brilliant
but by their track record, i doubt syndicate will be anything like the original
it's been dubbed a 'reinvention' already

I mean... ffs... they turned Shadowrun, one of the longest running RPGs ever, into a fucking arena deathmatch shooter
Still, the tiny little spark of hope is there within me... hoping that it will be proper. |
And guess what:

System Shock would be so grand. At any rate they should seriously consider working on it anyway.

wow Syndicate would be amazing... I was thinking the other day how cool would it be if there was a remake.
One thing that they should do is the inside of houses, though. For me that was the biggest problem with the game.
But since we're in 2011 i'm sure it will be a FPS full of corridors, anyways..

LMFAO! I just watched a longplay of Saboteur on YT and my GOD... if a game like that was made today, the 'tards would have an aneurysm! Massive game, no map, unforgiving combat, no compass or "waypoints", no help of any kind -- just you and a mission. Epic stuff |
Yeah I suppose you can trust delevopers to ruin old games on remake, lets hope the same cant be said for Syndicate.
Sabotuer was great, I finnished it, I think there was a sequel, funny how older games are harder than todays ones, I hate frustratingly hard games these days .

Yeah. It's pretty much guarentee'd now as there was mention back in May that Starbreeze might be working on Syndicate.
Also, EA are in the process of aquiring the rights to it/have pretty much secured the rights. United States Patent and Trademark Office

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned - it was confirmed as soon as EA filed the patent and OXM mentioned their exclusive. That art style is TOO distinctive. Starbreeze aren't a bad studio by any means.... but their comfort zone is the FPS genre, I just hope they don't make a Syndicate FPS like Microshaft made a Shadowrun one.

I've liked/loved every Starbreeze game to date(except The Outforce) and I doubt this will be anything but a generic FPS.
Would be great if it is, but the chances are close to nil.
