Its a pretty good game and the NTSC version was released some time which was DVD9 so chances are the PAL release will also be DVD9
May the NFOrce be with you always.

It's DVD9, but only 4,9 gigz, so, jeez... the group could left a finger to DVD5 it... I know, it's free and stuff, and they don't owe us nothing and stuff, but still...
Anyways, there are a lot of language files in it, so you can rip it yourself manually with xiso, or something.
As for the game... It's hack'n'slash stuff, a la Baldur's Gate: DA, the catch that this one is pretty funny, with lots of humor in it. Highly recommened for fans of the genre! (Don't listen to the jaded reviews, they bashed it unjustly.)
Edit: I just found the files. English speaking people can rip out the **_ge.xwb files in the "sounds" dir, and those who wants to play the game in german, can rip out the "en" files in the same fashion. And Abracabadbra: it's DVD5

OK tried what NeoGeoo said and it wouldn't boot... kept hanging at Xbox logo screen... which is what most non-retail signed games do on my older chipped Xbox. Patched the default.xbe file and reburnt, will see if it works now...
Has anyone else managed to get this one down to DVD5 size and has it working?

i had a DVD5 version of it, loads of sounds were missing, the game was unplayable until i switched subtitles on. but sound effects were missing too. not very enjoyable. just copy the whole DVD9 to hard drive

There was no working DVD5 release of the NTSC version with all speech and sound intact. All DVD5 NTSC releases either only work until you reach a certain point in the game or they have a lot of sound/speech missing.

Afaik this release also didn't work. Then there was a proper and a fix for the proper but nothing worked 100%. Or did you play it from start to finish and you had no sounds/speech missing and no freezes?

no i got bored and stopped playing it but i got pretty far,
sorry your right then
there isn't a good version, maybe cause the PAL is smaller you can rip a language or a video to make it fit and it might be better, but is this game really worth that effort when there should be abetter =dvd5 release of jade empire out real soon (i know there is someone wokring on making it smaller witout taking all the important movies!) and other games coming
