Updated files, based on what I saw with a unpacker it fixes some issues on the sixth level of the first chapter.

Oh and the game has three endings based on the available video files, probably tied to the difficulty levels like the first painkiller game.
(Easy and medium giving the "bad" ending, hard giving a "decent" ending and v.hard/trauma gives the "best" ending perhaps?)

I have no idea who is developing this though I guess it's either the Resurrection team or the Dreamkiller team as since you say People Can Kill are busy with Bulletstorm.

I don't think People Can Fly own the IP (it seems that JoWood does..)

People can fly made first Painkiller game And Battle Out of Hell addon(only good and great PK games)
After that they sold it to Jowood and Went for Gears of War pc port for epic and now Bulletstorm.
Btw. Reinstalled Painkiller yesterday. Hell! This game is soo fast! great mood, shooting. nowaday games are so slow and undetailed compared to this

It was a mod for the game, developed by one guy and supposed to be released in July 2010.
But apparently it was decided at some point by him and JoWood to release it as a commercial standalone game instead of a free mod. Since it's selling for so cheap I guess they didn't improve it or anything, they just slapped a price tag.

Addendum:
Same ol same ol. Pretty old school. The music reminds me of Quake II or Tribes II. But even that gets old pretty quick. Just my two cents after two-ish minutes playing.

possibly patched to their latest versions.
