Does anyone think the game will have modding? Like did the old one? It just seems from comments people like it but it could be even better with some mods...

SC4 just seems far far far far to "Blocky" this day and age.. if that makes sense

Under the hood/options it is the better game.. but city planning in it is TERRIBLE ..

There is now in games official forum user made Multicore tool what (if i understand correctly) spreads games workload to more than just one CPU core.

Yes, it does nothing.

The bottleneck isn't the CPU as long as your CPU was made in the last decade.

There is a bunch of tossers wandering about with their ancient computers whining they have a CPU bottleneck, but they'd have a CPU bottleneck on just about anything with what they're running.

I've done some testing with Fraps and forcing the game to spread out over cores does absolutely nothing to help my frame rate.

Ye, this game is retarded in terms of traffic lights. It adds them on every bigger bend.
Also the road upgrade is retarded. Sometimes it doesn't allow roads to be changed to one-way.

I restarted my first town for a new start. Fun thing is I forgot to end all the token businesses so the pop-up for your token has been changed to 0 %IND# (obvious bug) came up every 30 seconds. Had to use token cheat to get rid of it until I could rebuild my town with high tec again. bs I tell you.

Sad part is that if you play alone, you must build specialized cities to grow big. Only smaller ones can be self-sustainable on easy maps.

+1
The save system in this is game is so fucking counter-intuitive, it's not even funny.
Who would think that double clicking a save slot inside the SAVE menu actually LOADS the save?! seriously WTF?

My E6600 is from the last century? Confused
The cpu usage is at a constant 100% and graphic settings make absolutely no difference. Sounds to me like CPU is my bottleneck.

Sometimes just restarting the game improved performance greatly for a short while, so it isnt just my hardware.

After being hyped for the first CitiesXL for 2 years or so, and being completely let down by MC for turning into a money grab MMOm and then seeing it crash and burn. Is this game worth it? It's been out for a little while so I assume people have been through it enough to know how it scales with SC4 and the previous CitiesXL(hopefully infinitely better).

I just cant stand SC4's "blockyness" .. its just a big grid.. which i find terrlb.e tbh..

This game is far from perfect.. but.. i think its a step in the right direction.. however some things it does is a bit silly .. eg not being able to "upgrade" entire zones to a higher density .. granted this is a realistic way to do it.. but not that practical really...

My CPU also sits at 100% on one core, but reducing the graphics to nothing (and setting traffic to 0) doubles the frame rate on most zoom levels.

Sounds to me like your CPU is only a bottleneck because it's insufficient. And for clarification yes, your CPU is 4 years old. In computing terms, that's last century.

But still, restarting a game should not provide much better performance for a while.

You might be having other issues sucking the life out of it. All I can say is that on my system, which is good, but not quite top of the line, the game is very playable. I think it would benefit if I went to SLI since reducing everything to zilch improves it so drastically.

Most of Cities XL players claim it's a big step forward. Have to try yourself though. This is my first Cities game, but I like it.

There is a "fix" to spread the load for 2 cores, but the game is still not optimized.
And it seems to have a memory leak issue. Longer playing periods make the game sluggish. Extremely sluggish.

I lower the setting and everything, performance is still shit.
They better fix it the goons ors I'll never buy one of there games again...
Oh wait,,,, i didn't buy it Very Happy

As I mentioned above, the fix does nothing. it doesn't actually spread it out.

There is no FPS increase.

As for a memory leak, I played the game for around 4 hours the other day and it never slowed down. When are people hitting this memory leak? I've never even seen it used over about 1.1 GB of RAM.

Liar!

What about the Memory Leak??

And the funny thing is that minimum system requirements are a dual core CPU, but why? The game has no multicore support Rolling Eyes

What's so funny about that? With dual core the game can run on one core while the OS and other applications run on the other.

The small advantage isn't worth its writing. It's only good if you play 2 games at once (?!?) or encode a video and play CXL.

Whats the point to have 100% on first core and 0-1% on second ?? Core usage is not RAM usage !!!

So i must say its funny though

So that coming a mile away.
This will include all the things that should have been patched in the last game. Only in sports franchises have I seen patches sold as new games every year.
