What's the fastest way to change the FOV? The guns are too big and take up 20% of the screen space!!!
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Finally managed to get some games by creating a new account with a fake e-mail (thanks for that tip, by the way).
The most annoying things are all non-gameplay for me. Lack of proper settings customisation, that stupid blur for AA, non-dedicated servers and all the crap that comes with it (lobbies.. uh).
When it comes to the game itself though, while it does borrow way too much from CoD, there is actually plenty of fun to be had in this. I must say, I enjoyed it much more than BLOPS, at least. Once I got the hang of the suit powers and the options they provide, combat and movement became much more varied. I found myself chasing the enemy through the map trying to get those stealth kills at times, navigating the terrain to try and cut him off. Also switching to stealth right as the opponent sees you and quickly out-maneuvering him to turn the odds around can provide for some great moments (again, especially satisfying if you manage to get a stealth kill ). It feels like some kind of a cross between CoD and what Brink seems to be trying to be.
The game didn't feel too unbalanced for me so far. Not a lot of those suspicious deaths (none so far actually) and camping is not much of a problem yet.
The maps are a bit on the small side, that is true. More game modes and larger maps to play with could do this game a lot of good.
It remains to be seen how long the positive impression can last, so I have to play a bit more to see if the game is worth considering.

Found some usefull tricks. You can try playing around and see if your PC will explode.
Jk, ofc.
+g_skipIntro 1 +cl_fov 70 +r_DrawNearFoV 70 +pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov 70 +r_motionblur 0 +sys_maxfps 125 +i_mouse_accel=0
Just remember to add them in your game short-cut's target box. |
Thanks a lot !
1 and 2 are still amazing.

I'm actually enjoying the MP part aside from some of the irritating graphical effects (Motion Blur etc) I think it's a solid MP shooter.
Why it's good?
Well I have had no issues what so ever getting into a game, not one, usually I join a server with players and it loads almost instantly.
The Parkour stuff is fun, power jumping around the maps trying to get the drop on your opponents.
I like the streamlined nano suit controls, as it lends itself well to MP, I say this as i loaded the original crysis up last night and the setup felt very awkward to use after playing crysis 2 with the power up rose.
The graphics are probably as good as you're going to get in a multiplayer game and it runs slick too even on my old 8800GT, so it seems to be very well optimised.
And to the people saying it's another COD clone, It's not because there are alot of tactics that can come into play with the nano suit powers, so that in my mine sets it apart, and makes it a better game too.
I think this one is going to be a buy for me, even if the single player was a little weak I have had a shit load of fun on the MP demo.
Disclaimer: Grammatical and spelling mistakes are purposely left in my posts to weed out anally retentive trolls.

Hm. Make sure you are using the short-cut for the Crysis2Demo.exe and not the launcher one (Crysis2Launcher.exe).
My setup is: off with motion blur, fov 70 and bye bye glorious glow. Works fine here. I reckon I haven't tried all those commands, so it might be a good idea to experiment a bit with those and see which ones actually work first for you.
Here's a copy/paste example of the target:
"X:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2 Demo\bin32\Crysis2Demo.exe" +g_skipintro 1 +cl_fov 70 +r_glow 0

This demo shows a quite promising MP game.
Pros:
- the graphics, good looking and enjoyable art and level design
- the nanosuit and it's role in the gameplay and tactic
- "parkour"-style gameplay - as someone pointed out already
- unlocks, stats and all the crap - quite enjoyable for a completionist (like me )
- quite balanced maps, abilities, spawn points, autobalance team system (so far)
- high-tech theme - personally, I like it
- details that make me like this game a bit more:
. - body-awareness
. - self-shadowing
. - shadows appearing also on cloaked players (makes sense and helps you detect them)
. - quick-in, quick-out servers - no problems so far with connectivity, lag or room to play
Cons:
- no adjustable graphical settings
- game isn't necessarly about shooting skills, as all the gameplay (nano) features play a role here
- the auto-aim crap
- kinda small maps
- only 12 players / map
- still quite demanding for mid-range PCs and players that want their MP shooters above 60 FPS (the way a shooter is meant to be played )
Just my 2c so far, ofc.

Tbh, I haven't felt that me hitting targets (headshots mainly) depends exclusively on my aim. Also there is a quite large degree of chance to hit involved when firing upon someone.
After years of CS and CS.S, I can't say (for now) that this game is requiring you to be a master in aiming. And, tbh, this is quite important for me in such games.
So what I am saying, I guess, is that the aim is quite... imprecise. At least for me, ofc. I can't fathom the ideea that a bloody AK47 beats the shit out of those nice, shiny, futuristico-realistico weapons.

It started with halo. And had been continued with COD. You should get used to this Non existant recoil and these strange weapon physics + minimal FOV

Yeah but nothing has ever come close to Counterstrike when it comes to aiming and recoil, except Raven Shield. Gotta love a proper kick on a gun. Too bad it just doesn't work for pads and we get the console interpretation for our PC versions.

Crysis 2 will not ship with DX11, only DX9. DX11 will come later with a patch. Meh!

Looks OK though for the "aging" DX9 API however, will be interesting to see what they're adding that's taking the extra time for DX11.

Will be waiting for the dx11 before buying the game.

Yes, very tragic - a console-"optimized" design game will only run 100 fps instead of 120.
